| Following Jon Glew's route, parked at junction near padlocked gate and followed main track to NY 9122 8383 (hopefully the small cairn is still there) from where an overgrown ride leads to the TP. There is an embryonic footpath, twisting round the obstructions, well worth trying to follow it and having the GPS location as a target. Planned to go on to Hepple Heugh by following track to link path to ROW under Aid Crag but path ended at a ditch, and hack to summit would be longer than from NE | henryfm | 13/10/2022 |

| Went in the same way as mae. A hellish battle with nature made much worse by some of the larger trees adjacent to the summit being brought down by Storm Arwen. Lots of climbing necessary. Eventually found the trig point which was hiding. Way out heading NNW to the forest road much easier and would make a good way in. Park as before just before the gate. | Parked at end of track and walked south down path up a slight rise about 150 m. After 15 m on the flat broke into the woods heading to pillar. A mix of crawling under branches and open patches led to larger clearing with circular cairn with trig pillar within. Enlarged trail with loppers and secateurs on return. | Parking where forest road leaves the main road (alt 305m). Easy walk via the masts to the track junction. After an hour of battling with the conifers, including 3 false starts, and fruitlessly following my GPS I finally located the trig. I have no idea which route I went or returned but the will to live was fast disappearing when I sighted it from all of 10m away. | 2nd attempt - tried from the barrier and eventually got stuck in conifers. 3rd attempt - from the old cairn near the wooden squirrel - clear gaps lead a long way into green and spiky trouble. | Second attempt - successful this time. GPS essential. Followed Aye Jimmy's route - the last 200 yards from the old cairn at 91247,83440 are horrendous - literally fighting through dense conifers. Trig well hidden and will get worse, as semi-mature trees get bigger. Impossible to tell if trig is the summit due to dense trees but seemed like the highest point around. I found a much easier route back - there is a continuous passage from the Trig in a NNW direction which leads directly to the forest track near the barrier. This would make a much easier ascent route - start at 91204,83812 [2 rocks by track] and head SE towards a dead tree. | Paced 300m from ride track junction to the east of trig point to get a close attack point, but looked inpenetratable. Continued south until encountered a bench (!) turned right to take ride going west south west, spotted cairn and took bearing from this point. | With Jo, from Ridsdale: fought our way through from disused quarry to north, easier descent south over Fourlaws Edge. Trig easier to see since offpiste’s handiwork in removing some of the fallen branches that hitherto covered the summit. | From W, parked beyond masts but before barrier. Took rather a roundabout route, but got there! Lane S to sculptured squirrel, L across boarding, then L again past pile of stones. Then line of least resistance to summit area. Trig not easy to find, would think GPS device essential. | Has been replanted since RHW's visit in 2002, and is now covered with Christmas tree type conifers 10-15ft high and too dense to walk through. There are paths around all four sides of the summit, but no means of access to the trig point - I tried from all directions. I probably got to within 50m of the high point. | Crib Goch | 16/01/2014 |
