Drove forest road to first tower, parking for a couple of cars, walk up path through plantation, a short distance after gate is a group of stones on right(thank you) - a sort of path through plantation and a couple of battles with trees (use GPS!!) and the trig appearsmatty1971b02/01/2024
From near the locked gate on the track, went up through trees from the cairn on the track.robertphillips14/12/2023
18:00, sunny, NE breeze. Straight from work in Worksop. First walk with GPS: much to figure out.Wycombe Wanderer11/05/2023
Following Jon Glew's route, parked at junction near padlocked gate and followed main track to NY 9122 8383 (hopefully the small cairn is still there) from where an overgrown ride leads to the TP. There is an embryonic footpath, twisting round the obstructions, well worth trying to follow it and having the GPS location as a target. Planned to go on to Hepple Heugh by following track to link path to ROW under Aid Crag but path ended at a ditch, and hack to summit would be longer than from NEhenryfm13/10/2022
Jon Glews route, entrance to forest from the track not immediately obvious. Trig had been painted that day and evidence remains on my shirt and trousers. On to Aid Crag.Adrian21/08/2022
Drove forest road to padlocked gate. Entered plantation a short distance further along track at NY 9121 8381 for an easy walk through the conifers.jonglew17/04/2022
Went in the same way as mae. A hellish battle with nature made much worse by some of the larger trees adjacent to the summit being brought down by Storm Arwen. Lots of climbing necessary. Eventually found the trig point which was hiding. Way out heading NNW to the forest road much easier and would make a good way in. Park as before just before the gate. Continue up the road 130m (to NY 91201 83821) and enter the forest and head SSE.JohnR20/12/2021
Bagged after a couple false starts. Once at the trig the line out was easyAndrew Simmons21/09/2021
Parked at end of track and walked south down path up a slight rise about 150 m. After 15 m on the flat broke into the woods heading to pillar. A mix of crawling under branches and open patches led to larger clearing with circular cairn with trig pillar within. Enlarged trail with loppers and secateurs on return. The cut branchesshould be evident. The start is by a small fir tree which the lower branches had been cut Way ~165 m from car parking.cjo11/07/2020
As mae. 20 mins each way to cover the 160m from NY 91130 83616 to trig. Do drive up track to parking position.jimbloomer18/12/2019
There's room for a couple of cars along the track, where a path/ride heads south. Leaving the ride at NY 91130 83616 I was able to force a way through the trees - an earlier attempt from a different place failed.mae09/11/2019
Parking where forest road leaves the main road (alt 305m). Easy walk via the masts to the track junction. After an hour of battling with the conifers, including 3 false starts, and fruitlessly following my GPS I finally located the trig. I have no idea which route I went or returned but the will to live was fast disappearing when I sighted it from all of 10m away. Took me 75 minutes, not the estimated 15 minutes, returnmoorsman04/08/2017
Oh my gawd... this like arguing with an irritable tomcatLucky15/02/2017
2nd attempt - tried from the barrier and eventually got stuck in conifers. 3rd attempt - from the old cairn near the wooden squirrel - clear gaps lead a long way into green and spiky trouble. Got hair combed. Got there after a long fight. Almost lost specs. Dog useful for retracing the routemaknipe15/02/2017
Second attempt - successful this time. GPS essential. Followed Aye Jimmy's route - the last 200 yards from the old cairn at 91247,83440 are horrendous - literally fighting through dense conifers. Trig well hidden and will get worse, as semi-mature trees get bigger. Impossible to tell if trig is the summit due to dense trees but seemed like the highest point around. I found a much easier route back - there is a continuous passage from the Trig in a NNW direction which leads directly to the forest track near the barrier. This would make a much easier ascent route - start at 91204,83812 [2 rocks by track] and head SE towards a dead tree. Behind this the gap through the forest leads to the Trig in under 200 yards.Crib Goch19/01/2017
Paced 300m from ride track junction to the east of trig point to get a close attack point, but looked inpenetratable. Continued south until encountered a bench (!) turned right to take ride going west south west, spotted cairn and took bearing from this point. Struggled through dense and prickly vegetation but eventually found surrounded by fallen trees.Pheseltine23/09/2016
With Jo, from Ridsdale: fought our way through from disused quarry to north, easier descent south over Fourlaws Edge. Trig easier to see since offpiste’s handiwork in removing some of the fallen branches that hitherto covered the summit. Weather; cloudy, mild, apart from summit area good visibility.amblerbob17/05/2016
From W, parked beyond masts but before barrier. Took rather a roundabout route, but got there! Lane S to sculptured squirrel, L across boarding, then L again past pile of stones. Then line of least resistance to summit area. Trig not easy to find, would think GPS device essential. Mossy boulders nearby (old cairn?) suggest this may be the top as well.Aye Jimmy23/02/2016
Cairn at what to me looks like the summit. Unable to reach TP.Dusty27/09/2015
Has been replanted since RHW's visit in 2002, and is now covered with Christmas tree type conifers 10-15ft high and too dense to walk through. There are paths around all four sides of the summit, but no means of access to the trig point - I tried from all directions. I probably got to within 50m of the high point.Crib Goch16/01/2014
Rough last few hundred yards to top. Trig covered by fallen trees and difficult terrain. Windmills now built fairly close to the hill on the south side.Walker Dan07/02/2013
TP half buried in windfelled conifers, GPS/chainsaw advisable? For summit pick a highpoint. tk from gate then thru densish pltn to summit RHW17/11/2002
