From parking at the start of the old road, just W off the causeway. Followed the Hebridean Way to its high point N of Carran then southwards to its summit. Continued S, climbing steadily over heather, rock and wet pools to Heileasbhal Mor. From here, quite a steep zig-zaggy descent E to Bealach na-Ciste, then an equally steep clamber up to An Coileach and its Trig. Another tricky descent eastwards, this time to Bealach Garbh, followed by a climb to the less distinct top of Ceann Reamhar na Sroine. N to bag Maoladh Mhicearraig before a final descent NNE to pick up the Web Way once again.summitter11/09/2023
From Carran with Mntainman. Probably a pleasant simple walk if you can see where you are going. Rain, wind and thick low cloud. Fun all the same!Dangerous Dave20/09/2022
From good parking just at the start of the old road, close to the new causeway. Along the old road, then up the Hebridean Way, which gives a sort of path to take you about 1/2 way up the lovely Carran. Nice easy strolling over Carran, then more complex bumpy ground to the bealach and part way up Heileasbhal Mor with lush, spongy vegetables. Nicer ground towards the top, with little lochans below the rocky summit. Best to visit all 3 summit candidates in case of tampering. Down on spongy vegetables to the easier going through the bogs around the remains of Loch Heileasbhal. Great lumps of peat along the river on the way down and huge slabs exposed by landslips. Easy river crossing at the confluence despite heavy rain the day before. Rough going to join the track along the nasty scruffy run of river scheme.Gill10/09/2021
From N. Parked at 081969. Up E side Abhainn Gil an Tailleir, N of Loch Heileasbhal, onto N ridge and up onto Heileasbhal Mor. Visited cairn and 2 contenders NNW and WNW of cairn. Cloud came in on summit, light rain. Descended E and up W side An Coieach. Visited summit and rock to W. Cloud base just above summit. Straight off along N ridge. With PM.CJM26/06/2019
Parked up at 081969 in small parking area. Path south peters out after three quarters of a mile but rocks exposed as dam failure higher up in Sept 18 washed the area clear. Loch Heileasbhal does not exist now. Easy enough onto the ridge. East to Coileach with CM.bolton26/06/2019
4/6 Bulabhall, Sleiteabhal, Holasmul, Heileasbhal Mor, An Coileach and Carran. From Hergabost. 8 hoursnickywood116/06/2019

Parked adjacent to old road at NG080969. With Donald and Francis. Ascended Scottish Water path adjacent to /east of Abhainn Gil an Tailleir. Ascended adjacent to burn to Loch Heileasbhal and then onto ridge via Heileasbhal Beag to summit. Descended east and then ascended very grippy slabs onto craggy summit of An Coileach. Great views of all of South Harris and beyond from both summits. An Coileach was a particularly interesting sculpted mountain. Descended north to rejoin ascent route.raffemeister05/04/2016

Immediately up on similar ground to wide ridge and top at 13.30. Pile of white granite stones on top of highest boulder with fence posts stuck in.arranc25/05/2006
