2/10 Parked by the bench at SD 246 811, then followed up wall, crossing at gate, to Crag Height. From there cut across the moor to Shooting House Hill. Over the wall at the stile, and down past the tip to the gate, and up High Moor with its trailer mounted aerials. Retraced route to the gate, then contoured round to the wall coming down from Shooting House Hill (tricky crossing). Followed RoW down to the moorland road. Crossed straight over and up quad bike track to gate in field boundary, from where sheep trods took me to the trig on Bank House Moor. then good track back to the minor road below the bench. Thick mist most of the way. 8.5km with 330m ascent in 2 hours 20 minutes. | silveracorn_alan | 18/02/2023 |

9th tump of 12 on a 33.6km circular route from Ulverston, climbing Flan Hill, Town End Bank, The Alps, High Pastures, Lad's Head, Lowick Beacon, Kirkby Moor and after lunch beside Gill House Beck, Crag Height, then East across Marpuddle Moor to climb to the overgrown cairn and then over the fence to check out any other high point before continuing to the disused tip on a track heading South then continuing direct for the summit of High Moor... | Dazingdale | 01/04/2018 |
Saw nobody on my circular walk. | Dusty | 11/11/2016 |
IMPORTANT ADVICE, If you are topping this hill along with High Moor then it is advisable to visit this one first. The reason is that there is a good path all the way to this summit. You can then cross the wall at a weakness just before the summit and head directly for High Moor. If you are challenged by the farmer (as I was), later his son (as I was) and then his wife (as I was) you can just say that you got lost on the open access as you couldn't cross the wall. You finished up on his hill because that is where the gates gave access. They were all quite happy with my explanation and directed me on their private track back to my car! You cannot do this if you do High Moor first! | moorsman | 18/08/2016 |
