It's good to have the better access to this side of Ullswater. Beautiful views from open oak woodland then up to the HP on grassy pasture. Route from Pooley Bridge now all off tarmac (except crossing roads). With Pete. On to Bennethead Banks and Soulby Fell tops. Cloudy with some light rain. | pwheeler | 10/03/2024 |

From muddy layby by boathouse, pleasantly through pastures and woods, apart from the stile into the woods which has gone to the Great Permissive Path In The Sky | maknipe | 08/09/2020 |
3/3 Parked above Wreay climbed Bennethead Banks from minor road to Dacre. Then directly opposite used Ullswater Way to pick up Soulby Fell and Salmonds Hill. (Then a drive roudn to Soulby North Top see separate log) | nickywood1 | 21/06/2020 |
From the car park at the junction, round of the Soulby tops. Ground exceedingly wet underfoot | Colin Crawford | 20/02/2020 |
Ascended from Soulby Fell, having followed permissive paths from Bennethead. Following the Ullswater Way would be a better approach. | JohnW | 25/11/2019 |
Parking for about 4 cars opposite the boathouse just after Pooley Bridge. A concessionary path leads up to the summit field. The bends can easily be short-cut starting immediately as you enter the first field. The last bend can also be avoided by, once you reach the stile alongside the trees where the path turns back on itself, heading straight up alongside the fence. Takes you directly to the summit field. | moorsman | 16/10/2019 |

RoW leading E from quiet lane to N of Wreay. Down and across fields into lane, then to obvious barn (very squalid around here). Hedge line followed to gently rounded summit. Continued to Soulby Fell. | Aye Jimmy | 18/03/2015 |
No sign of Alex. Fine permissive path. | Martin R | 24/12/2014 |
With Jenx and Martin R from Pooley Bridge. Continued to Salmond's Hill then under Bennetthead Banks. Festive fun then down in Patterdale. | nordicstar | 24/12/2014 |
Across from Soulby Fell. Some very large cows | mcbiydw2 | 05/08/2014 |
From parking on road just past Wrey, took permitted path through long grass, then cut up steeply to Soulby hill from lovely Maiden Castle. Lot of cows on top. Back down and up from barn to Salmond's Hill. More very long grass to wade through. Lovely views of Ullswater and hills on a balmy warm evening. | nordicstar | 26/06/2014 |
Aira Force to Pooley Bridge. Both me and my girlfriend were very taken aback by the beautiful views up Ullswater, an unexpected treat. Lovely paths through the woods too. Far more satisfying than Dunmallet. | Jake994 | 28/11/2013 |
