As moorsman. Parked just S of Crag Hall. ROW to sheep pens, then across next field and gateways to open fell. Good views.PGCE31/08/2023
Parking for a single car about 100m south of Cragg Hall. Walk up the bridleway as far as the sheep pens on the left. The only wall-free access to the summit appears to be by going through the gate alongside the pens and head diagonally across the field to the boundary wall. Here there is a collapsed section which gives free access to the summit. I came back this way after unsuccessfully trying to avoid a way without having to climb at least one wall.moorsman12/05/2021
Shame about having to climb the wallconanharrod24/12/2020
Up the path from Baystone Bank to Gray Stones. Thick mist hindered any further advance, so we skirted the southern flank of the hill and crossed wet ground to allow an easier climb up Knott Hill.summitter13/09/2020
5/5. Parked on Corney Fell in area near trees, then 20 mins up to Barrow, drop down and worked round NW around edge of access area, down to the footpath over the beck to the farm beside the Stone Circle, then up Raven Cragg, round the head of the Corrie to revisit Stoupdale Head, then down to Grey Stones, and over beck to Knott, back up road to car. Heavy thunder storm, had to shelter on Grey Stones, bit frightening.nickywood114/06/2020
Summit is on Open Access Land but with dubious access. Access from RoW on W side, across contiguous open access land, is defended by fence-topped walls. There is an engineered gap in the NE corner of the wall, SD 17670 87530, closed with a HURDLE. NB, the adacent GATE does not give onto the open access land.Isbjorn05/10/2019
Interesting Hill I was chatting to a local who informed that there is a small neolithic stone axe quarry on the Sunkenkirk side of the hill and that Cromwell positioned canons on top of the hill during the siege of Millom.DC11main15/06/2019
Parked to ESE on west side of road at SD 18119 87207. Walked north up road then followed track/bridleway to gate at SD 17825 87572. Through gate and slanted up hillside to second gate at SD 17648 87529 onto access land. Steepish climb up to summit partly following grassy track.David Gradwell10/06/2019
On Rick Salter's final Cumbrian hill completion party. Whisky and chocs provided - an excellent day AND we avoided the raincitygent02/03/2019
Pleasant day to join Rick Salter and 10 others to celebrate Rick's last Lakeland top. I parked at 1811/8722 and first gate up track at 1782/8756 lead up to easy gate at 1766/8753 to arrive 30 mins before Rick's party arrived from Raven Crag.GordonAdshead02/03/2019
From SD 1801 8645; Raven Crag first then across to here on near enough direct line. On Rick Salter's final Cumbrian hill completion party.jonglew02/03/2019

I've noticed today that this fell steals the view from the South. Parked at bridge to NE, then bridleway and route 1. Quiet skies today: bliss.Wycombe Wanderer16/02/2019

Knott Hill from GR: SD 18129 87200ronaldo33319/11/2017
1st hill of 5 today on a route from Green road station to Silecroft station with my daughter, Katherine. Route: Minor lane past Strands then Arnaby, NE on fp past Roanlands to minor lane past Elf hall & Cragg House, turning Nw on delightful fp, over stepping stones to Gornal Ground. Over A595, on track, crossing Black Beck on larger stepping stones, onto minor lane N towards Cragg Hall then track to Swinside stone circle. As Katherine didnt fancy climbing this one i said meet me at the Stone circle. I branched off to climb to Trig, descent over one tricky wall then through marshy ground to reach marshy fp back to track, rushing over to farmer's son who helped me find Katherine who had walked straight on and was in some fields. How she failed to spot the Stone circle will remain a mystery. Next hill: Raven Crag.Dazingdale01/04/2017
From Raven Crag on a straight line avoiding farm. Marshy in the bottom. Departed similarly on a line to the lane at Broadgate.Eddie04/03/2017

From E, parking space by gate. Through gate then in/out edge of wood/field to top of wood. Gap in wall at head of field then L to approach top of hill from SE. Trig S.5386 stands on summit rocky ground.Aye Jimmy04/05/2015
Circular walk on pleasant spring day from the very interesting Duddon Iron Furnace to three fine viewpoints.Barrow-Swinside Stone Circle-Knott Hill(up from west with one nasty wall to climb and down east to north of Cragg Hall with no walls to climb)-Mount Wood. With Oscar.catman02/04/2015

Was not sure how to tackle this hill, because of access issues but turned out to be quite easy. After Barrow a fast run down the road to Cragg Hall (holiday cottage), up footpath then turned left through gate into field (no ROW), angled up right to another gate then you are on access land -immediately turn left to keep wall on your right hand side leading to summit trig. returned same way and on footpaths to Mount WoodChris Pearson23/12/2014
Parking 100m S of Swinside track end. Access to Access Land problematic with companions. Walked around to W side but it wasn't worth it. Climbed a wall there and then another in a NE descent. Fine summit with excellent views.jimbloomer14/10/2014
