Parked to N at entrance to forest. Sheep tracks most of the way. Good early morning views.PGCE31/08/2023
Parking possible on the south running road due east of Windy Slack Farm. Here you can oick up a track heading upwards towards the western, higher summit.moorsman12/05/2021
1/5. Parked on Corney Fell in area near trees, then 20 mins up to Barrow, drop down and worked round NW around edge of access area, down to the footpath over the beck to the farm beside the Stone Circle, then up Raven Cragg, round the head of the Corrie to revisit Stoupdale Head, then down to Grey Stones, and over beck to Knott, back up road to car. Heavy thunder storm, had to shelter on Grey Stones, bit frightening.nickywood114/06/2020
From NNW where track goes into forest. Initially alongside wall then faint track to top. Good view.PeterD28/12/2019

Roadside parking (SD 1780 8899). Direct line to hill top in wind and rain. Not too damp at the low point; probably a bit drier, and not much longer, from 211m spot height.jonglew02/03/2019
Using FP from road junction, nice line, wet where drainage line washes through. Great valley views.nordicstar26/02/2019
Took in whilst undertaking a botanical survey of SD1988 with M, Mike and Elai. Humorous encounter with large Berkshire pigs on the way up from Duddon Iron Furnaces. Watch out for your packed lunches!Karmakarl06/05/2018
With Alf and Andy from Ulpha then onto Penn fantastic walk. Great views. Sadly some Cows above the forest edge.mick27/04/2017

Circular walk on pleasant spring day from the very interesting Duddon Iron Furnace to three fine viewpoints.Barrow-Swinside Stone Circle-Knott Hill(up from west with one nasty wall to climb and down east to north of Cragg Hall with no walls to climb)-Mount Wood. With Oscar.catman02/04/2015

Parked in very wide passing place, East of road junction. On way back to campsite after Corney Fell Birkett circuit.ngthack06/02/2015
Solo winter's afternoon run over 4 tops from Broughton. From Pen,took zig zag on road to keep dry feet then surprisingly easy grass from north to top. Despite the howling wind also visited the southern top just in case, then a curving line above the mini gorge of Thwaite Yeat farm to the road and fast mile down tarmac to Cragg Hall.(Somewhere I lost a favourite fleece hat - £1 from Poundland which had done the job as well as any other hat I have had even keeping me warm up Kilimanjaro a year ago). I have just read that Day 2 of the huge annual JK Orienteering Event will take place on Barrow during Easter 2015. I have just entered - very handy as we will be back at Broughton then anyway. Might find my hat?Chris Pearson23/12/2014
With Jo, walk fom Beckstones: Penn (we found it easier to climb moss covered wall stile in sheepfold (SD 18782 90984) than gate (SD 18712 90816)), then Barrow. Weather; sunny, warm, good visibility.amblerbob29/10/2014
As Jim, obvious route from road junction. Parking not brilliant.David Gradwell18/04/2014
