Parked at Hallthwaites church for a circuit of Gray Stones, Stoupdale Head, White Combe, Hook Knott and Brocklebank Wood.PGCE31/08/2023
4/8. Parked in layby next to the Fox and Goose cottages. Took RoW on field side of hedge to avoid busy road. Then up narrow lane (hedges now nicely trimmed) onto open fell. Used path to contour round the fellside to the stream, then up ridge to the splendid summit. A real mountain in miniature! Dropped down to the saddle joining it to the main fell, then retraced outward route. 3km out and back, with 150m ascent taking just 50 minutes.silveracorn_alan17/02/2023
From the saddle to the north and down the southwest ridge. Lots of bracken elsewhere.Alan Moore05/10/2022
supposed to be a quick one on the way home from other small hills so how come we ended up right up on White Coombe, and almost to Stoupdale Crags? Because the walk down the Whicham Mill Valley is gorgeous that is why! This little hill was achieved by thrashing bracken along the wall line at the start of the walk, and by far the nicer part was after we reached the small col to ascend it's nose. Good views though.nickywood128/08/2021
Small layby alongside Fox and Goose cottages (evidently the cottages were once a pub of that name). Follow the overgrown footpath to the west as far as the open access boundary. From here a good path leads all the way alongside the boundary wall, crossing a small beck then, after 100m or so a path leads off to the summit. No problems at all.moorsman12/05/2021

Via overgrown lonning from SD1568084935 (parking 200m E; busy road). Once onto Access Land, along wall NE through thickening bracken to easily cross stream then up SW ridge which is reminiscent of a shattered volcano crater rim. Would be easier to ascend from col to NE. Encountered a dog dining on a rotting sheep carcas - the 'Hound of Whicham'?Isbjorn05/10/2019
From small layby on A595 to SW at SD 15820 84876.David Gradwell31/03/2019
Via FP to S and steep flank. Returned by SW ridge.Wycombe Wanderer16/02/2019
Off-road parking at Beckside. Out and back. Solo.Dangerous Dave28/01/2019
Drove into the heavy horse centre, owners happy for me to park there as they were closed to visitors. Took a RoW to Whirlpippin then made it up from there, with a fast flowing stream and much stock fencing negotiated, not to mention dense dying bracken fields on steep slopes. This was a bit of a grind, but the top made up for it.jonglew11/12/2018
Hook Knot from GR: SD 17042 85402ronaldo33319/11/2017
A good long low level walk with Lesley from / to Broughton via fps, woods (autumnal leaves at their best), fields & lanes on a foggy autumnal morning with warm sun breaking through on the summit. Golden bracken all around. 2 farm dogs spotted us and came tearing up the fell side leaping walls to bark at us from close range. Enjoyed sharing our lunch with the chickens (but not the pigs)which pecked our boots and legs at Bank House.Chris Pearson01/11/2015
W Jenx. After White Hall Knott, White Comb, then to Stoupdale Head and Gray Stones. Dropped down track into deep bracken, had to skirt towards Fore Slack farm as paths not useable. Up the SW ridge which was very nice and a great final viewpoint on a lovely clear day.nordicstar29/09/2015
From East, church, RoWs, track round s end of ridge to w side for bracken free ascent. Not a great route in bracken season, maybe neater from swRHW02/08/2015
Fine little hill and one that I'd somehow missed on a circuit of the higher hills to the north.Aye Jimmy05/06/2015

Circular walk from Beckside taking in White Hall Knott, White Combe and Hook Knott. Lots of bracken on descent from White Combe, nice little hill with a path along ridge.citygent19/09/2014
