Along grass track adjacent to private road. Easy to get through gaps in fence and onto reservoir compound but in full view of adjacent houses and farm. Solo. | Dangerous Dave | 12/11/2021 |
Grassed over reservoir without prohibitive fencing | vegibagger | 25/05/2021 |

A walk from home at Stainburn to the top | Havenchris | 04/01/2021 |
Parked at the hotel, very quiet mid-morning. Walked across road and up track to big gates with PRIVATE sign. So opted for the adjacent grass track with no gates and no PRIVATE sign. Little white van parked by reservoir, with bloke inside. He either didn't see me, or couldn't be bothered, as he never came out. Hopped the fence from the grassy lane to the PRIVATE concrete road, then another fence and up the reservoir. Back the same way. | Minto | 22/11/2019 |
Parked on the verge outside of the hotel. Was about to take a photo from the road when I was approached by a water worker. Puzzled at my explanation he drove me in his van down the lane and allowed me to climb the steps to the summit area. Couldn't really understand why I wanted to reach the summit of a reservoir when I had all the Lakeland hills to go at!!! | moorsman | 18/10/2019 |

Parked in Hotel car park - short stroll to top | Bramley | 10/04/2018 |
Parked in Hunday House Hotel car park. Walked round the covered reservoir, then over the top. Trig bolt, if extant, is under 6in of turf, would need a spade for it. | jonglew | 22/01/2018 |
An easy 1st Tump of 8 over a 4hr afternoon, catching up with Darren. Also spotted and went to investigate a nearby potential new Tump at Lillyhall Landfill Site which has been grassed over. Awkward access as still in use and it did'nt really look big enough -yet. Along with complaints of 'odour problems' a rather offputting fact is that it also consists of High Volumes of Very Low Level Radioactive Waste (HV-VLLW )from the decommissioning of parts of Sellafield. The April 2011 Environment Agency report allows for a max 582000m3
of HV-VLLW, out of an estimated
total remaining site capacity of 1.5 million m3 until 2031 (note in dairy to return to check finished size in 14 years time?)

Large reservoir on top of hill. OS bolt in concrete beside one of lids at NY 02702 26325. Natural HP debatable. | Aye Jimmy | 01/08/2015 |

Natural HP seems to be under the resr, which is easily accessed. Should be an OS trig (bolt) on top, unfound, may have been destroyed. | RHW | 17/05/2015 |
