1/2 Handy parking at 489 798 in a layby area. Walked from here up the road and onto footpath leading straight up to Haverbrack Bank. Returned to use path leading off right which says footpath to public road. This spits you out a few yards North of the path which leads you into the Fairsteps. It is signposted Slackhouse. Follow this all the way along, climb up via the fairsteps, and then access the woodland for Whin Scar. Easiest way through the brambles and bracken by crossing the fence slightly East of the level land above Fairy Steps close to a little limestone scar clamber - the wire is lowered a bit there anyway. We found very feint tracks up to the summit, still a bit rough but helped flatten the brambles more easily. Took 15 mins each way on the rough stuff, so it's not for long.nickywood109/11/2019
Debs and Talisker. Circuit from Milnthorpe heading home. In the dark, had a mooch round the woods but fences not dog friendly and didn't want to snag new jacket on the brambles!Mountain Goat12/11/2018

From Milnthorpe with Darren along salt marsh for a sea level ascent from N following a million pink arrows - spaypainted on to anything and everything to mark the route of the Beetham fell run coming this way in the afternoon. Trees, grass, leaves even a fresh cow pat(!) all enthusiastically sprayed. I guess it will wash off with rain?? Natural summit in field then into trees where we awkwardly climbed a high gate into a small fenced reservoir, then discovered another ,larger, higher and easier reservoir a bit further in.Footpaths onwards through woods and down across Silverdale Moss (railway) to Middlebarrow -on a 6 tump circuitChris Pearson30/07/2016
Night hike from Arnside, got lost in the woods for a bit, which was nice as they look just like the Blair Witch Project. Agree that hilltop is higher than creepy reservoir.DanHolme26/10/2015
From SD 48395 81178. Therefore visited the field top before standing on the concrete tank. Field top seems highest (as per Aye Jimmy).summitsup19/09/2015

Arnside - Haverbrack Bank - Whin Scar - Thrang Brow - Cringlebarrow Hill - Yealand Hill - Carnforth. A day of steady rain but the woods kept me reasonably sheltered. Great views north to the Lakes and beautiful trees.Jake99402/05/2015
From the Storth-Beetham lane to the south. Tracks through wood skirt top of huge quarry to reach old concrete water tank at the top. Highest natural point is just beyond in field.Aye Jimmy05/01/2015
