From few hundred m N of Hill House. Tall roadside fence is down. No private signs were passed. Nice woodland, despite feeling of should not be there. | Minto | 29/12/2023 |
Though gate marked private from main road.WBMC meet | DARRENG | 10/07/2021 |
Roadside parking just north of Hill Top. By far the easiest access is to walk back to the gate opposite the house. This takes you onto a path leading almost up to the summit. If you enter the wood from the parking place you have a deer fence, some marshy ground and a second wall topped with wire to deal with. | moorsman | 14/05/2021 |
From Hill Top. | Wycombe Wanderer | 17/02/2019 |
A round from Penny Bridge. High Pastures, over to Colton Heights, Bessy Bank and then Lad's Head. About 11 miles, just right for mid winter. | nickywood1 | 16/12/2018 |
4th tump of 12 on a 33.6km circular route from Ulverston, climbing Flan Hill, Town Bank Hill and the Alps, following wall NW then at gate then moving East and then North to intercept track to minor lane and then following this all the way to Smithy Green and Penny Bridge and over the A5092 to Bridge end, curving round to Hill top before cutting in through woodland and then onto the track further up, heading past the Transmission tower and to the Northern Corner for the highest point just within the woodland. Nice spot! Descent by zig-zagging down a steep slope to reach minor road then bridge over the River Crake to take lane past 'Little Dicks' heading for Lad's Head... | Dazingdale | 01/04/2018 |
From SD 31455 83492 with Rick Nordicstar. The field gate is marked 'private' but we ignored it. Good track through cattle pasture to mast, then hopped a wall/fence to a woodland summit. | jonglew | 09/01/2018 |
As Ronaldo, with Jon Glew. Good views up the valley and Tumps of the day | nordicstar | 09/01/2018 |
High Pastures from GR: SD 31278 84453 NB the track from SD 31474 83525 is marked Private. | ronaldo333 | 17/11/2017 |
A 6 Tump circular walk from / to Penny Bridge with Lesley, linking quiet narrow lanes and field footpaths-all very pretty with colourful autumnal leaves. In 2009 the River Crake flooded nearby Spark Bridge (a 1 in 1000 year event). Up and down via the track opposite Hill Top. | Chris Pearson | 29/10/2015 |
From SE, parked down to SW. Visited all three 100m contours, could be as high. | RHW | 02/08/2015 |
Parked about 150m NE of Hill Top houses. Then up to mast and into wood behind (barbed wire has helpfully been wrapped at one point). Rocky, mossy ridge within wood with wall and tree at N end. | Aye Jimmy | 04/04/2015 |
