Five minute stroll, through a gate, amble over the field and back over a fence to my parked car. The stated high point hardly seems higher than the hedge by the A6 | Colin Crawford | 19/11/2023 |
On the way to a 9.30 dentist appt, who passed the time asking what plans I had for today? I thought about saying I've just bagged the end of a hedge -as one of 11 tumps, with 3 done before my appointment, but I couldn't face having to explain as well as appearing odd, so instead talked of my prep plans for OMM this weekend. Found we had common ground as she also enjoys hill walking -always good to have something in common with your dentist -feels safer somehow! The 52 logged baggers of this hill so far can be regarded as members of the exclusive Carleton Club, not to be confused with the Carlton Club in London with its slightly stricter dress code: whose gentlemen must wear tailored jacket, collar, tie and formal trousers and ladies something commensurate. Luckily to get into our Carleton Club (with the extra e) I was able to wear wellies here with a hole in one, and no-one complained. | Chris Pearson | 24/10/2023 |
Part of 23 mile walk along the Eden Valley with Wazza. Very hot day. | cumbria mammoth | 24/06/2023 |
Parking available at the entrance to the reservoir access track. A few seconds walk north (footpath at the eastern side of the road) then cross back over to access summit. 2 minutes return. A bemused farmer at the farm across the road stood agape at my activities, but, seeing it was 5:30 am this is understandable | moorsman | 04/08/2022 |
Picked up on a very short diversion from the M6 while driving north. Parked where the driveway meets the road, as others - the only difficulty was pulling back out onto the road as it's a bit of a blind bend! | Mark Jackson | 04/08/2022 |
On way back from Carlisle. | Dugswell2 | 23/01/2022 |

Stepped over fence from A6, slight rise of ground in field does seem marginally higher than road side. | Aye Jimmy | 25/10/2015 |
Tump with a stump. En passant. | alda | 06/03/2015 |
Ex hedgeline in field, higher than road. | RHW | 05/10/2014 |
Diversion route to work, Carleton Hill, roadside parking. | nordicstar | 19/09/2014 |
Passed over the summit on the A6 while taking the bike out, breaking a journey. A short slog up from the south on the very wide road. | fasgadh | 28/06/2014 |
Easy log. Parking in laybys just either side of summit | mcbiydw2 | 29/03/2014 |
One of the easiest Tumps to 'climb'. Just involves getting out of the car, crossing the road! Can't believe I'm only the second to log it. | Minto | 18/01/2014 |
