Parked on verge by brown wooden pedestrian gate in wall. Up lane opposite.Minto29/12/2023
I parked alongside the wall of Boarbank Hall - a lovely looking mansion nursing home in extensive wooded grounds run by 12 Augustinian Canonesses (and lay staff) in the service of the sick and needy. They also offer retreats (£80 night incl. meals) and the public is welcome to join them in prayer in the chapel 5 times a day, with the gentle request 'to follow the Sisters lead with pace and sing softly so that we can all hear one another'. In the dry gale I first headed across the wrong field to the lower sited mast then found the short overgrown track to the gate and summit mound. Unusual views to Humphry Head and Kirkhead Tower rising from the billiard table flat fields and marshes.Chris Pearson19/09/2023
Train to Cark and walk to east top and then on to Grange Stationtrimarc223/03/2023
Parked at crossroads 300m E, but could have parked in the lane entrance just below the topGordonAdshead12/11/2021
No realistic parking on the minor road to the south as the wooden gate was deep in vegetation. Plenty however, where this road enters Allithwaite. Walk back along the road to the access track which, in July is a mass of brambles, nettles and other sharp nasty things.moorsman14/07/2021
Parking by brown wooden gate 70m from summitjimbloomer212/12/2020
Parked in entrance 100 yards west of lane and gate and made a brief foray to the summit.Nick Down120/10/2020
Parked a little too far down the hill and ended up walking through the ground of the Augustinian convent and had a look at their private cemetery. Chatted with the gardener on the way back and they have twelve nuns now.clivevilla22/10/2019
Not quite a drive by, parked in old gateway then over road thru gate and summit, quick!nordicstar13/01/2019
On Way from Wart Barrow over to Flookburgh for the Christmas Band. Merry Christmas everyone!nickywood125/12/2018
Almost a roadside bag. Quick nip into a pasture from the road, which is wide enough for parking.jonglew02/12/2018
Found an overgrown parking spot right opposite the track leading to the high point of the hill. Followed the track up for about 20m where a metal gate allowed access into the field. A further 20m walk into the field bagged the top, but this was fairly visible from the farm to the E so I didn't hang around.Wheelsy25/07/2018
Very easy bag from high point on road.Wycombe Wanderer09/06/2018
2nd top of 6 on a 15.3km route from the Wraysholme crossing to climb to Humphrey Head then back on the minor lane, heading West past Boarbank Hall then on the overgrown track as described with a gate giving access into the field and high point. Continuing back on the lane into Allithwaite and out to cross wall at SD38658 77162 then up into the woodland, forced to go North to profile around the scrubby Hawthorn tree before exploring all the high points on the Limestone pavement. Great Wee top! Onwards Nne to climb wall onto minor lane, heading on another lane Ene for Hampsfelll....Dazingdale02/04/2018
As others up short (overgrown track through gate and up to topBramley18/07/2015
Parked in Boarbank Lane just past the convent. Very short lane and gate into field of sheep, lambs and rounded summit.Aye Jimmy13/04/2015
Walked from Kents Bank train station up to Allithwaite, via a detour to visit Kirkhead Tower, then past the convent at Boarbank Hall. Easy detour up a short track and hop into a field for the high point. A bench further west along the lane gave very fine views over Cark and to the sea.Jake99421/12/2014
Parked in housing estate 300m ENE. Leave road via track and take gate into field.jimbloomer30/10/2013
