Parson’s Thorn [Great Orton S6932] from GR: NY 32848 54075ronaldo33309/10/2022
A horrible wet and muddy farm track bridleway to access field with trig and Tump summit. Also got two benchmarks in Great Orton.Dugswell226/02/2022
Recommend bathing costume or wellies, if too cold to swim.Martin R02/01/2022
Thanks to previous advise, I wore my wellies. Definitely neededconanharrod07/03/2021
This hill has no redeeming features other than easy parking. Deep muddy approach only broken by flooding. A slog, nothing more, nothing less. Take wellies ... be warned.moorsman18/10/2019
Delicately negotiated the path, I should have heeded the warnings and prepared better. Met the farmer (in wellies); nice chap.DC11main14/09/2019
Sunshine walking along a dusty track that looks like it would normally be a quagmire.Wycombe Wanderer21/04/2019
As Jonglew. Track was indeed very muddy - ankle deep and not all avoidable today.clivevilla07/11/2018
1st of 9 peripheral Cumbrian tumps on a wet day. Parking roadside in Great Orton and taking the track due W - it has 2 large and potentialy deep puddles but both can be circumnavigated with ease, so no worries about getting wet feet, and today was a particularly wet day. Access to the trig pillar is from the W side of the hedgerow, so best to stay on the track to a field gate at NY 3210 5394. HP at trig pillar on a raised field bdy.jonglew14/12/2017
Dry boots as ground frozen solid today! Solo.Dangerous Dave11/12/2017

Forewarned, wore wellies! Blackened trig hides in plain view.peebs14/09/2015
Parked in Great Orton near school at NY 32854 53785. Took diabolical track which was like a canal in places! Used gate at NY 32214 53960 to access field with trig pillar.David Gradwell23/08/2015
Parked by telephone box in Great Orton to E. Lane still very squalid even in August, was in boots but wellies better. TP in hedge but area near gate to W looked as high. Think I met vegibagger on way back?Aye Jimmy08/08/2015
surprisingly muddy track not at all suitable for my trainers and shorts. got to party full of water and unable without wet feet two field before the trig. went into field in up to crest and managed to get through there into next field and down to the gate to bypass the mega puddle and then into the next wheat field. sorted!! swirling windmills with sound of chopping air 300 m further to the west.vegibagger08/08/2015
Forgettable other than views to High PikeMark Sims27/04/2015
Parked in village nr school. Walked to farm then the muddiest, wettest track ever (a welly job) to junction nr mast. Take gate just previous and through centre of field to top. Trig is in fence line to right.nordicstar11/12/2014
