Barra/Vatersay west coast Marilyns and Humps.
5 of 5 | thekirkie pirate | 20/06/2023 |
Direct ascent from the bridge on the road up an obvious grassy gully, which turned out rather steep and heavily vegetated. Took a slightly easier descent route further to the West back to the start point. | prwild | 18/06/2023 |
Bike from Castlebay, walking from layby at NL630967, heading roughly up a gully, reaching ridge E of summit, then along to the top, descending N at first, turning E on reaching an old field dyke, back to start (1h15m) | kdbennett | 18/06/2023 |
Round of Barra Marilyns by hired bike on a nice sunny day. From S. | davechaffey | 18/06/2023 |
From the bend on the road to the NE. | robertphillips | 17/06/2023 |
From NNE late evening walk after ferry crossing from OBan. Steep and tusocky terrain eases with height to shorter heather and rocky slabs. Great views. | cjo | 17/06/2023 |
Up the east ridge from small quarry/pull in. Nice east ridge on hot day onto island Bioruaslum in time for low tide crossing. Eagles as we descended to the gap. Dave and Gill. | N.Morters | 16/06/2023 |
Parking space south of the road junction to Uidh. Nice ridge walk up over the cairned summit of Heiseabhal Beag (172m). With Nigel & Jill. | Dangerous Dave | 16/06/2023 |

Debs and Tali. Circuit of the 4 southern tops from the Vatersay village Hall. | Mountain Goat | 21/09/2018 |
Barra and Vatersay Tumps now completed. So, wandered over to the community centre for a mug of hot chocolate and to make certain that the Vatersay Boys would be performing there the following night. Before unhurriedly making my return to Dunard Hostel over this top. | Twice Shy | 09/08/2018 |
A bus walk from Vatersay back to Castlebay over Beinn Chuidhir, then via Bagh a'Deas and Bagh a'Bhatersaigh beaches and the cafe. Direct from the cafe up Heiseabhal Beag on short grass and gneiss pavements, then over to Heiseabhal Mor. Down the west ridge to a flat section, and a zig-zag descent N to the bealach avoiding little crags. W to the road and the coast path to reach the causeway, and Beinn Tangabhal. | Gill | 07/08/2018 |

First hill on Barra - Vatersay and probably my favourite. Wonderful views down to the beach. Climbed from the narrow section by the beaches, just near the community hall which has toilets available and wash facilities and showers which is handy if you are camping. Strikes me very friendly community. | nickywood1 | 07/06/2018 |
Approach from NE - rough heather/grass & some slimy rock - ascent from S looks more pleasant. | ger | 22/05/2018 |

From about NL631967, we set off roughly parallel with the road but rising slowly. The fences marked on the map appear to be what we call Cornish hedges and are not very obvious. Having found the broad re-entrant we set off up its W side, rising as much above it as felt comfortable. This gave us a long and lumpy walk across the tops to the actual summit | m0jla | 26/04/2018 |

After walking through from Tangasdal, climber Tangasval. Up the long west ridge. Potential Tump at West top. Fine location on summit, views amazing on warm, calm sunny day. Once a year happenance? (no flies today Jon) | nordicstar | 09/07/2014 |
jenx | 09/07/2014 | |
Hot sunny day with flies galore. Approached from bend in road to NE. No paths found so just slogged up steep heather clad rocks. Flies really were a problem, only time they have been on all 3 days here - midge net would've been better off on me than in the hostel! From summit followed ridge E to 2 little tumps. | jonglew | 08/07/2014 |

Camping by the west beach after an interesting ferry crossing, Easy ascent in rather dreich weather. Dead whale on the beach was detected as the wind changed.
