3/3 Revisit Parked at end of access road near to the rail crossing, walked along North West footpath to choose best field access to summit. Continued North for two fields to pick up track back to the footpath and used the inland path across to The Hawes and then came back using coast path to Gutterby Banks. Very friendly farmer near summit of The Hawes had a good chat and was happy for us to visit summit. | nickywood1 | 11/08/2020 |
Road beyond the railway line is a stoned track and only a right of Way on foot. However, two local vehicles passed me on it and both gave me a wave. Parked before Gutterby and walked to the end before doubling back along the coast. | moorsman | 11/05/2019 |
Parked at SD 1074 8426 (could have driven further although suspect farmer might have said something if encountered). | jonglew | 07/04/2019 |
From gate at about 108842. Nice little bit of coast, walked on natural grass terraces - keeping discretely off the skyline. Black Coombe summit in cloud. Lovely. | Wycombe Wanderer | 16/02/2019 |

From parking to North at the river, before Private Bridge. Crossed anyway (saw farmer later and he was ok). Used old path / bridleway to just South of hill, direct up, then out to coastal route. Found the old trig down the bank, then divert to Gutterby Banks. Quick back along the coast path to car. | nordicstar | 04/12/2016 |
From the Gutterby Road at SD107842 (widest parking opportunities close to bend at SD109842) | jimbloomer | 14/03/2016 |
From NNW via Annaside, ignoring silly bridge sign, revisited now-toppled Annaside Banks trig pillar en route. Then along clifftop but many fences, some electrified, so descended easy steep grass and back along shore + Cumbrian Way - much nicer. The Hawes on way back. | RHW | 19/07/2015 |
Took turn-off to Gutterby from A695, beyond railway line it's all rough gravel. Parked near shed before Gutterby. Man on tractor raking field, would it be OK to follow field edge? - said it wasn't his field! | Aye Jimmy | 05/06/2015 |
2/4/15 A walk with a difference along the pebbly beach still within The Lake District National Park from Silecroft to Bootle with L and Darren. Finally a calm sunny day after the recent gales. Silecroft is popular with South Cumbria sea anglers , both from the beach and boats. Boat safety rules state :1:A Lifejacket for each person aboard. 2: At least two (in-date) red flares, 1 smoke, 1 rocket/parachute . 3:A second means of propulsion. 4:An Anchor. Failure to do this may result in suspension of use of the two 1980s tractors used for launching the boats. If the tractors are used the rules state they should not be driven in too deep! After an hour of beach wandering from Silecroft we climbed steeply up the grassy spur in the crumbling glacial boulder clay cliffs to this lovely green field bump. Awkwardly northwards on crumbling cliff top edge (electric fence kept us out of field) until forced to descend to the pebbly beach again. | Chris Pearson | 02/04/2015 |

Parked at Silecroft beach car park then walked up the beach to bag Annaside Banks' toppled trig due to dune erosion. Climbed up dune from beach to find grassland top in field of quiet cattle. | Dugswell2 | 13/08/2014 |
