Blencarn ROW to Cross Fell. After revelling in the glorious wind shelter we took the Pennine pavement across Little Dun Fell to its big golf-balled brother. Over to Knock Fell before doubling back to the derelict Silverband Mine and from there the indistinct footpath to Milburn. Before tackling Burney Hill we had to roll two fat sheep back on to their staggering feet .. a kick in the shins being my sole good-deed reward .. perhaps making up for the many years of chops, shanks and kebabs.summitter18/06/2021
My first new top of the year. Very cold and snow but beautiful sunshine. With Bryher.jenx10/02/2021
Midday, 9 degrees, strong northerlies, prolonged showers, from Milburn. Left Bag For Life in sun trap while I ran up and down, en-route to Great Dun Fell.Wycombe Wanderer26/09/2020
Ascended from where the public road ends, having climbed Knock Fell and Flagdaw. Main problem was the stream crossing, which after heavy rain the previous day was more like a river.JohnW28/07/2020

At end of tarmac section of (no unauthorised vehicles) BW - plenty room to park - thru' BW gate and immediately left thru' field gate at NY 6965 2954 to find good ATV track/trods on SW side of wall to telegraph pole bridge at NY 6920 3006carole engel21/04/2019
Suprissed to see plaque on summit boulder. On way back from Great Dun Fell. Now off to Knock Pike.cjo16/02/2019
Parked at cattle grid by sheep pens on radar access road. Room for several cars. Followed wall on SW side through 2 gates at pens, good ATV tracks lead down to stream where handy telegraph pole can be straddled to cross it. Or for those with a good sense of balance walked over!!! No fence/wall to climb on route.mart079702/11/2018
With Jo, from Dunfell Road. Followed fence/wall to bridge then straight up to summit. To make a longer walk went to Fisky Boy’s gate, then up to Silverband Mine and then the track to Dunfell Road. Weather pleasant but cool on Burney Hill, hailstorm at the mine before becoming sunny and warm later. Generally good visibility.amblerbob06/09/2018
From the Knock Fell road crossing Knock Ore Gill and then following tracks alongside wall to the east of Burney Hill before eventually finding a gate to the north east, and then finally a walk across rough grass to the summit. Back the same way!Fisky Boy20/05/2018

Burney Hill and Flagdaw from parking on the Dun Fell access road.Crib Goch21/01/2017
Parked at the first gate just before the 430m contour on the radar road & went anticlockwise round 3 tumps. Foot bridge under telegraph wires & straight up, no walls.agentmancuso13/10/2015
Opportune lay-by suitable for parking just after the start of the open access land. Following the second wall (the one by the sheepfold) gives a clear run to the beck. An easy wire fence to negotiate and an easy crossing of the beck gives access to the summit.moorsman30/09/2015
Starting at same place as for Flagdaw, gate on other side of lane then long wall followed to river. Wall has fallen at one point by river, flattening fence. Crossed river (may be difficult in spate) and steeply up to Burney. Boulder with plaque at top.Aye Jimmy03/07/2015
Knock Pike, Flagdaw, Burney Hill. The track to the south east is now a proper tarmac road. Approached from this direction I took the first field on access land down to the river. The wall here was down in a couple of places and replaced by a fence that was easy to stride. But the local farmer was rebuilding the wall a little further along, so this might not be the case for much longer. A lovely hill comprising a delightful short ridge.ijpowell11/07/2014
