Well definitely no prizes for picking locations weatherwise this weekend. Driving wind in the Wainwrights on Friday and driving rain in the Howgills. Boo and I off for a dry towel and a cup of hot chocolate.Alphaville19904/02/2024

From Rawthey Bridge, avoiding the quagmire at the start of the track. Otherwise, a lovely evening strollColin Crawford27/07/2023
From Rawthey Bridge along good track to finger post then followed bridleway to where a faint path follows ridge over top. Down to Cross Keys and up Yarlsidetrimarc230/05/2023
1/2 Bluecaster from near the Cross Keys, then down to the road, cross over and up onto Harter Fell, then back via the side valley to Cross Keys. Four hours, walking with Alan Jones from our group.nickywood119/02/2023

Howgills rearing so steeply & magnificently close by around Cautley Spout -memories of going straight up for 500m on the OMM. Complete opposite here for an imperceptible mile incline of rough grass - take something to eat, do, think about or just keep looking back at the Howgills. Friendly farmer advised me t' park agin barrn -such a great Cumbrian accent I wanted to ask him more to hear more. No path just rough ground from optimistic finger post to SW although ATV track lies teasingly 100m north of Bluecaster Cottages and goes much of the way you want to go once / if you stumble across it.Chris Pearson25/03/2022

Took path from Rawthey Bridge and then the right fork. Ascended cross country from a post.JohnW06/03/2022
From large parking area about 100m from Rawthey Bridge in Sedbergh direction. Old road, then bridleway to its crest then a direct line to top- rough to start but easy pasture soon after. A nice surprise was a grassy path going NE from the HP as this was our planned way back, regaining the bw by an intriguing line of shake holes (usually=drier going). A pleasanter than expected short walk, with brother, Pete.pwheeler15/06/2021

On a Gargrave station to Sedbergh walk via Holmes Moss and this top, followed by Fawcett Bank. For a small hill, it certainly packs a punch with the exquisite views across to the Howgills.JOHNS23/06/2019
