Parked in the layby at the top of the pass. Followed the fence line, with sheep trod standard paths, to firstly Whins Brow and then Top of Blaze Moss. Ih 45 combined.clivevilla16/05/2023
From lay-by at Trough of Bowland, across stream and followed sheep tracks from a few yds. NW to avoid steeper slopes in wet conditions. Easy along fence to HP. It all felt dreary with the shower but views of even wetter bits of Bowland throughout. My brother went up Whins Brow instead but as I'd been up there before I went for a hill I hadn't donepwheeler21/03/2023

Not much of any track but not too difficult with crutches up from the top of Trough RoadGordonAdshead18/06/2022
2/6 Parked in the lay by at the top of the pass. Followed the fence initially on the north side, then on the south side (good path) to the summit trig at the top of Whins Brow. Retraced the route to the pass and then followed the narrow track by the fence on the other side up to Top of Blaze Moss. A total round of 5.4km with 330m ascent in 1h 40m (S).silveracorn_alan30/01/2022
From road summit after Whins Brow, after initial climb followed fence most of way to top.PeterD02/07/2021
I walked up Langden Brook beyond the path until not far from the summit, some tricky stream walking but good fun if you enjoy that terrain. Then up onto Hawthornthwaite Fell Top - still 10,000 seagulls nesting up there. I wondered into the 'zone' by mistake, little ones running around and nests with eggs whilst they guard and threaten from above. Keep to the boundary fence on the ridge, it is just clear. Avoid the area between that fence and Langden Brook. Trig still fallen! Then I walked back via Holdron Moss and Top of Blaze Moss, very dry up there just now so surprisingly easy walking for this area.meltdiceburg15/06/2021

unmarked point on flattish heather moorland after steep ascent from small carpark at 'the Trough.' Lovely clear cold sunny day with extensive views to Whins Brow and beyond. Part frozen and frosted underfoot.Denise 07/01/2018
Initially steep heathery ascent from the Trough of Bowland then along fence line - we've learned - to the levellish heather moorland summit which a sign describes as blanket bog. Cold and frosty under clear skies.RichardM07/01/2018
Top of Blaze Moss & Whins Brow. Solo, from parking area by cattle grid at highest point on road through Trough of Bowland. No obvious high point.ADT05/11/2017
Parked in the lay by at the bottom of the pass to make a decent walk out of the visit, still only 3kms in total.bardolph13/04/2017
Bagging day in the Forest of Bowland after days of rain, we must be mad! Drove to the top of the Trough, steeply climbed up to Top of Blaze Moss, descended same way back to pass then along fence to Whins Brow on easy gradients, not too wet surprisingly. The 'Grouse shooting in progress sign' is there permanently which is very bad. Then drove around to Cross of Greet bridge and bagged White Hill and Hailshowers Fell, very boggy. 9.1 miles altogether, lovely and sunny.DanTrig04/03/2017
last hill of the day started with Parlick and walked down to Dunsop bridge for a lift back to carcolinfielding07/10/2016
6am solo ascent direct from our roadside camp just down east below summit of the road through the Trough of Bowland which is popular with cyclists. Memorials at road top to two of the greats of their day incl. Bill Bradley (from Southport)winner of tour of Britain 1959 & 1960. Detailed newspaper reports of his wins on web showing back up cars even in those days, but no helmets and some competitors pushing up steep hills. Deep bracken forced me to backtrack and skirt right to fence leading to flat top with sign requesting walkers follow white posts across the untracked moorland .Back down to road top and down to tent for breakfast with a few early cyclists zooming past downhill or straining upwards. Then a long day circular walk around Dunsop Bridge with Darren.Chris Pearson24/07/2016

Solo. Up from car parking near Sykes Farm. (Road to cable grid and borderline fence.) Onwards to Holdron Moss and then Hawthornthwaite Fell Top.Aimless Rambler07/05/2016
Parking in the layby just west of the Trough summit. Look for signs of a path at the summit side of the Parking area. Although initially rough it soon levels out and a path can be found which leads to the top once it doesmoorsman22/10/2015
