Walked over to the actual summit from the Winter Solstice event (which was at the trig). Wet walk up due to the weather but used waypoint to approach from west corner of White Holme Reservoir and wasn't as boggy as expected. With AvidSockWearer. /Dmeltdiceburg14/01/2023

Same route as Gerry, easy walk in, then good track, wet in a few places up to trig and back to HP near wooden post. Stiles helped to cross fence.PeterD23/03/2022
As gerrybowes, GA etc. Easier than expected after a prolonged spell of dry weather, but wouldn't like to tackle it after heavy rain. Grid ref for summit is about 10m beyond isolated wooden post. 7.5km return.malcorbett22/04/2021

As GA. Small parking area by start of permissive path/service track to White Holme Reservoir at SD 9779 1874 (space for 2 or 3 cars) - Along track to reservoir, turned right & followed track alongside reservoir & leat to sluice/bridge at 976204 - Over bridge & across heather to start of a decent alongside fence - Up path, crossing fence at a thick strutted straining post & then about 70m ENE to the summit which is located at, or within a few metres of a wooden post. 11:30, 6 degrees, overcast, strong westerlies. Straightforward though predictably uninspiring walk from 977187; heather not as bad as feared. My kingdom for a tree. 1hr 10 mins.Wycombe Wanderer03/02/2020

Parked at White House detoured up Snoddle Hill then up Chelburn Moor to the reservoirs. Bad choice made when I headed directly for the Round Hills. Ground was very boggy and broken which made for tough going till I hit the ridge, a fence and an indistinct path. Returned down the ridge and jumped the White Holme Drain to access the easy reservoir fps. Don't follow my route up; I've climbed Munros that felt easier and safer than thrashing through waist deep vegetation surrounded by bog!John Eley18/08/2019

From the White House on A58. Easy walking as far as the south end of Warland Reservoir after which it became heather and tussocky. Unspectacular top. 2 hours there and back.Campbell Singer16/02/2018

3rd hill of 5 today on a tough but rewarding route from Mytholmroyd station to Hebden Bridge via Crow Hill and Manshead End, descending on a fp Nw over Collin Hill then a vague track before heading Nw over rough ground to cross the Turvin Road and then descending near Saw Gill Hollow to cross Turvin Clough (had lunch overlooking the calming sound of running water) then continued to climb up White Holme Drain at SJ981208, climbing in and out to head directly for the Woolpack stones (great views to Warland Reservoir and some prominent rocky outcrops. Headed North to explore the summit before visiting the Trig point on the Little Holder Stones, I got a similar reading as some of the boulders are on higher ground than the trig anyway. I took a sweeping East to NE route avoiding the worst of the developing Cloughs before crosssing the Warland Drain, heading for Stoodley Pike.Dazingdale11/03/2017
Parked at end of access track on B6138. Walked up track & kept south of White Holm res crossing White Holm drain by a bridge near the boundary fence, Followed fence up to summit & the trig. Went straight down hill pathless to good track between Warland & Light Hazzles reservoirs.mart079701/01/2017
Tried again after my recent dismal failure. Large parking area alongside the White House pub, which, at 7:30 on a freezing cold day, was half full! (alt 1279 ft). Pennine way to the end of the Blackstone Edge reservoir. At the end there is a good path directly over to Whiteholme Reservoir via Byron Edge. Follow the concessionary path as far as the parish boundary where there is a concrete bridge giving access across the river. After crossing the bridge head diagonally across to the fence where there is a good developing path. This aims for the trig rather than the summit so do not cross any of the stiles. When the trig comes into view, between the third and fouth stile, cross the easy fence towards the summit. 5.6 miles return, 393 ft ascent, 2 and a half hours.moorsman05/11/2016
Vague/developing path near the fence which runs approximately along the line of a parish boundary with occasional boundary stonesmaknipe29/10/2016

No .... No .... No.... on no account approach this from the Withens Clough Reservoir. I did and failed miserably. Firstly, the concessionary path to the south of the reservoir is bounded by an uncrossable catchment drain without bridges. This means you have to rejoin the northern track at the west of the reservoir. Here you can cross it but there is no way of ascending the hill. Very deep tussocks growing out from waterlogged ground which eithers pulls you down knee deep or makes to take lengthy detours. Only a mile, but after half an hour I had only done 300 yards ... so I gave up, only to have to face it all going back. Take heed!moorsman22/10/2016
