from the carpark and can confirm the motorway is fully open! low cloud and a bit breezy, but was nice to be out! I could only imagine the views that others talk of! 7.8km in just over 2hrs (no point hanging around when there isn't anything to see!) | Nicky C | 13/03/2022 |
West Lomond via the Bunnet Stane, then Bishop Hill | hummusg | 11/03/2022 |
Storm Eunice blew thru on Friday, so OMC Weekend trip to Glen Clova was cancelled. Saturday 19th, picked up Andy Whitehead from Dunblane and met Nicky Creadland at the Craigmead car park for 10am.
A few inches of snow had fallen on Friday, but it was blue skies all day. The track was well trodden and lots of kids were sledging around the car park. Back to the car for 14:45.
The road up from Falkland was a bit icy and snome cars got into trouble in the afternoon. | chillyman8 | 19/02/2022 |
Via the Bunnet stone, then on to East Lomond. | Grinner | 12/02/2022 |
Parked at walkers Car park by Holl reservoir with a view to doing all 3 Marilyns here. Followed footpaths to East Lomond first and then the standard motorway across to West Lomond. Intention then was to descend into Glen Vale and ascend Bishop Hill to complete the round. Would work but we abandoned at Glen Vale and the weather conditions were becoming more and more miserable. | sarahk | 23/01/2022 |
Circuit from Craigmead. | thekirkie pirate | 02/12/2021 |
Parked in the Craig Mead Car Park and did a figure of 8. First West Lomond Hill and then down to Falkland with a quick detour to Yad Falls and the tunnel through the woods (both highly recommended). Cup of tea in the Falklands Estate cafe, through Falkland and then up to East Lomond (very steep) and down to the car park. | tsharp | 25/11/2021 |

With E. Took opportunity of break in weather for an afternoon walk. From Craigmead car park following Walk Highlands recommended route. Good car park, toilets and clear track - what’s not to like. Very quiet. Sunny and clear but gusty winds at summit. Good views of Loch Leven, the Ochils, Firth of Forth, Bass Rock and Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh. | Beeliner | 09/09/2020 |
Climbed with Zoe | neilblair353 | 01/09/2020 |
East & West Lomond 4 hr circuit from Pillars of Hercules car park with L and the 2 dogs and local friend Bill F -who only had time for East Lomond - going up the N side then down east to the popular high col car park. Here we joined the world and their dogs on this gloomy sunday afternoon on the main path. Our biggest challenge keeping an 'on heat' Treacle away from all the passing dogs! Blasted up the final direct option of steep grass steps up the final summit volcanic plug -to keep ahead of a closing fell runner! Claggy and windy on top but soon down to calmer greyness. Down Mapsie Glen path alongside nicely cut mini gorge in sandstone. | Chris Pearson | 16/08/2020 |
From carpark to the east. Up the busy path with Sue. | N.Morters | 02/08/2020 |

Fine afternoon's walk from Bonnet Stane under Covid-19 lockdown restrictions. Why had Fife Council decided to rope off the safe parking area? Previously made a circular trip in August 2014, climbing from Bonnet Stane, walking down Glen Vale and cycling back from Glenlomond along Dryside Lane. | barnz48 | 21/04/2020 |
Via Bunnet Stane with Barry Berghaus. | kojak | 08/03/2020 |
From Bunnet Stane car park. Direct line up the N face which is very steep! Almost too windy to stand at summit. | Crib Goch | 29/12/2019 |

East and West Lomond from parking between. | rhalstead | 14/06/2019 |
Parked in almost empty Craigmead car park. Followed red arrow path out of car park then fairly clear track all the way to the top via the west side. Return by the same route. Warm dry ascent. Torrential rain as I arrived at car prevented continuation to East Lomond. | Jubilado | 10/06/2019 |
From small car parking layby not far from a wind turbine (lane via Gateside and Upper Urquhart) - track to Bunnet Stones (Bishop Stanes Mushroom sculpted and intriguing with its man made cave below) ascended to trig / summit via Hoglayers. Circuited towards loch and East Lommond but retreated as rain arrived. | briandavies | 25/04/2019 |
parked in massive car park between the Lomonds, started at 8.00a.m. Hill all to myself then added Bishop Hill too as the weather was clear. Great views from this peak. Company: Solo | iandesbottes | 16/01/2019 |

West Lomond, via the Bunnet Stone, up the path and then off piste direct to the top, to beat the rain. On to Bishop Hill, then down Glen Vale, which is really, really lovely, Short road walk to finish, with views of harvested and ploughed fields. Nice. | Gill | 11/09/2017 |
From Craigmead. DS | Fred Windsor | 09/09/2017 |
With Katy. Clear low level but misty top. | George Thompson | 25/07/2017 |
Second Visit. This time via the steeper north-west flank from the Bonnet Stane. Gusty wind on the summit with some low cloud coming and going. | Windy Corner | 16/07/2017 |
From Craigmead - then onto east Lomond | Mark Sims | 19/04/2017 |
A windy day to visit this one but a good path most of the way up. We hoofed up direct for the last 250m. Far too windy to hang about on the top. Bagged a couple of geocaches on the way and the earth cache at the top. | thejackrustles | 03/04/2017 |
With Marcus and Rosie.combined with East lomond | Longwojo | 26/03/2017 |
Gleaming white this morning, then cloud topped, but by the time I got on the slopes the ice had melted and the weather relented after the initial hour when the wind turned NE. So up the short, N side and down the recommended WNW side. Fine on the top, decent views, could keep an eye on Largo Law to see what that NE wind was blowing in. On to Bishop Hill. | pwheeler | 22/03/2017 |
Simple walk from Craigmead. Solo. | Dangerous Dave | 04/03/2017 |
With Mid Week walkers. Low cloud, zero visibility, cold in the wind. | Play2End | 20/01/2017 |

Second ascent. Climbed from west side via Bonnet Rock with Stephen. First climbed on 20th September 1993 with Elizabeth and Peter from Craigmead carpark. | PaulineD | 29/11/2016 |
From west up glen vale, with mora, then bishop hill. | BLACKHILL | 24/10/2016 |
11.1 mile walk from car park near Craigmead, started in overcast weather, clouds just brushing the summits, walked along lane and up to West Lomond in improving weather, left the summit SE and down trails not marked on map to Lothrie Burn, walked along main path then along boggy tracks to the top of Bishop Hill, down the same way and along main path east passing Little Ballo farm, back to car park, while it was starting to rain, had lunch at the car and 30 mins later headed out to East Lomond in rain and low cloud, followed path to summit and utterly useless toposcope (thick cloud), visited trig and walked back to car. | DanTrig | 12/10/2016 |
From car park on minor road to the east. | clivevilla | 08/10/2016 |
first of three tops today, starting from the Bonnet Stane car park near Gateside this 3.5 mile walk with a climb of 400m can be found in Jonny Muir's book of UK County tops. I took 1 hour 45 mins to finish the walk and care should be taken when coming down Hoglayers in damp conditions as I slid a third of the way down before righting myself. | WAYNE ROWLETT | 25/08/2016 |
Parked in CP near Easter Gospetry. NE along road to the path leading to the Bunnet Stone and from there, took a direct line straight to the top. VV steep in places, but doable. SSW descent to path and return to car park. 6 miles. | callumorr | 13/08/2016 |

An evening ascent of the steeper northern slopes from the road near Nether Urquhart passing Bonnet Stane, and up the Hoglayers. Clear evening, if a little windy. | VirtualMountain | 16/04/2014 |
Done in conjunction with Bishop hill. Twelfth day in a row on the hills first one that left me dry at the end! The local authority in their wisdom have tried to put a path diversion through glen Vale due to 'danger of falling rocks'. Elf n' safety at its worse. Obviously i ignored this silly edict and i saw that at the western end of the path somebody had ripped the sign down. Good on them! I urge everybody else to ignore these foolish commands. | thenomad | 25/02/2014 |
