17 of us on top on a reunion get together walk up and down Dovedale. Chris W, being a civil engineer, pointed out that Thorpe Cloud and the Great Pyramid at Giza, as well as looking similar - sort of, both tower close to 500 feet above their respective valley floors.Chris Pearson02/02/2024

Climbed at the end of a beautiful walk from Dovedale to Milldale and back. Gently rolling ascent apart from the last couple of 100 yards which are quite steep. Glorious 360 degree panorama from the summit. With Katie and Fenella - Fen's first summit! And she loved it!praenterprise17/10/2022

On a trail run from Ilam.Wheelsy29/07/2022
Started at the car park opposite The Old Dog Inn and joined the ROW just NE of Thorpe. Quickly up and down Thorpe Cloud in the mist before an atmospheric meander through Dove Dale to Milldale. The sun came out so ice creams were duly purchased in advance of a climb up Bailey Hill. The gate NNW of the summit is defended with barbed wire, but no other choice than to clamber over it as gracefully as possible. Nice summit, with views down the limestone valleys. Southwards to the Nabs and then underused/partially blocked ROWs to Bostern Grange Farm. Undeterred, we continued southwards until east of Tissington Hill, from which it was a couple of fields over to the trig point summit. Further south to Moor Barn and then a farm track back to the ROW which leads to Gag Lane and down to The Old Dog. A fab round.summitter16/05/2022

9.9 mile circular from Thorpe, re-bagging Thorpe Cloud then along Dovedale to Milldale, followed paths across to Tissington Trail back to Thorpe, dull, foggy and cloudy but surprisingly warm for Boxing Day, a lot of recent rain made paths and the summit of Thorpe Cloud very muddy and slippery. Afterwards drove to road west of Blore and bagged Musden Low and Hazelton Clump for the first time.DanTrig26/12/2018

It was a warm day. I was with my family and friends.speedyclimber02/09/2018
Last morning of our week with J & R at Ashbourne. 2 hrs up and down Dovedale with Josie the borrowed Jack Russell - old and stiff - top speed 1 mph. and yet speeded up going uphill - overtaking scores of resting jolly tourists ( some hindered with pushchairs and giant footballs) on this wonderful family mountain - ideal short and pointy for all and sundry. Comments heard as we passed -'Daddy I've just seen the type of dog I want, and 'Going down is OK, but you lose your confidence when you fall over! Little boy in tears on summit when he fell over (limestone hurts) but recovered when he was allowed to pat our dog.Chris Pearson17/06/2018
