From good parking on W. side of Burholme Bridge, up Mossthwaite Hill. From Mossthwaite Hill back to ladder stile at 668488, easily over low wall & wire fence, & picked up faint ATV track on E. side of wall to hurdle at SD 66968 48371 - Continued SSE on W. side of wall, through ruined wall & then SW over tussock & heather to the mossy, embedded stone summit which is currently marked with 5 or 6 stones.gerrybowes16/03/2024
Decent parking at Burholme Bridge SD65750. Kitcham, Mossthwaite, Fober and Mellor Knolls. Thwarted by an angry herd of cows last attempt of Mellor.. not this time thankfully. Plenty of deer spotted including at summit of Kitcham. Failed Long Knotts due to 2 farmers on Quads on summit rounding sheep off the hill. Not important enough to interrupt there livelihood, esp with my dog in tow.Alfa1M07/02/2024
From Burnholme Bridge, up RoW by Fielding Clough. Mossthwaite Fell first, terrain so poor there we wondered if we wanted to bother with Kitcham Hill. However the grassy quad bike/path E side of wall was good to ascend and the wall crossing and marshy ground- after wet weather- at start- were easier than first impression. Gates through wall, pleasant summit and shelter in the pine wood to its E allowed a nice break before returning by the outward route. With Petepwheeler22/03/2023
6/6 Parked at Burnholme Bridge, walked past the farm and then up the clough to the ladder stile onto the access land. Followed the quad bike track alongside the wall (not obvious for first 50m). Crossed the wall at the junction, then over to the poorly defined summit of Mossthwaite Fell. Retraced route to the ladder stile, then crossed the wall below and up track on the east side of the wall to the hurdle near the top. Crossed to the west side and up to the summit cairn of Kitcham Hill in the open ground between the trees. NB walls are tricky to cross. 6.5km with 260m ascent in 2 hours. 2/4 Parked in car park at Dunsop Bridge, along the path by the river then branched off steeply up directly to summit (tussocks rough). One small wall ok to get over (round edge of first one). Down wall edge and up other side (ladder stile) to Kitcham Hill. Back down and over the moor on nice footpath and through parkland over bridges to arrive at Fober Knoll up through trees, down the road back towards Dunsop and veered off right up through wooden gate and along edge of long thin plantation to Boarsden Hill which was a nice late bag in sunshine. Cows were all very placid at the top but do have young so be cautious. Back along riverside path to Dunsop. 4 Hours a nice autumnal walk.nickywood116/10/2021
From Burholme Bridge and (welcoming) farm, up Fielding Clough. Completed after ascent and descent of Mossthwaite Fell. Pretty dry underfoot. Tiny Cairn on summit. Best cross the wall at the hurdle just before the tiny ancient quarry and ascend from broken wall through trees on north side on a deer path.Nick Caunt01/04/2021

Walkers are currently unwelcome at Burholme Farm due to Covid 19 concerns. Therefore, started the two hills to east of Whitewell at fp. Good quad track most of way to top. Dry underfoot. Then down east side of wall with grass path to boggy col before easy ascent of Mossthwaite Fell.Campbell Singer30/07/2020
followed the wall up and down after Mossthwaite fell, very boggy disturbed two deer hiding in the heather on way back downcolinfielding29/01/2020
From Mossthwaite hill, track of sorts by wall. Summit is a two rock cIrn near a lone pine. Several hundred pigeons reside in trees.cjo24/11/2019
Parked Dunsop Bridge for a round of 4 Tumps. From Hodder Bank Fell. Why is this not called Birkett Fell? Descended NW to Birkett, then over footbridge to Fober KnollMinto23/11/2019

Tussocky access land. Found a route up on W side of wall from north. Some mown heather. With Bryher.jenx22/11/2019
From access land to NW. Hard work on very hot day over shin high heather. HP at small cairn in heather by lone pine near shady copse. Onto Mossthwaite Fell. Little did I know that the terrain was about to get even harder!Denise 25/08/2019
Kitcham Hill, Mossthwaite Fell, Fober Knoll from Dunsop Bridge.RobertP21/10/2018
Took far longer than expected to reach the summit. Parked in Dunsop Bridge (free on the roadside) and followed river south to Burholme. Developing footpath alongside the fence up along Fielding Clough to the col. I cut straight across to the summit ... deep heather, tussocky sieves and completely pathless. Not advisable. Even when reaching the wall on the clough path it is quite a slow upward plod due to boggy ground.moorsman19/10/2018
Mossthwaite fell, Kitcham Fell over Hodder Bank Fell to Fober Knoll then Boarsden moor. 3 hour roundLongwojo27/05/2018
With Jo, circular walk from Dunsop Bridge: riverside paths to Burholme, then Fielding Clough and onto Kitcham Hill. We then went over Hodder Bank Fell to Mossthwaite Fell, (there is a gate/hurdle at SD 67257 49432 that avoids any wall climbing), before returning via Giddy Bridge and along track past Knowlmere Manor and Lower Thorneyholme. Weather; sunny at first, cloudy later , good all round visibility.amblerbob29/10/2017

From bridge to W. Parking OK.jimbloomer22/09/2016
Easy pastures with gates up from Burholme Bridge however the descent north was 1 km of proper 'Karrimor' terrain being murderous deep grass and heather making for heavy going. 4th of a 9 top circuit with Darren.Chris Pearson24/07/2016
From Dunsop Bridge after Mossthwaite Fell. Rough going is an understatement. Back along river bank very pleasant by contrast.ngthack27/04/2016
From w, Dunholme bridge, after Mossthwaite. Tussocky climb.RHW05/03/2016
From the parking area just over Burholme Bridge. Straight up the fellside through convenient gates.Alan Caine19/07/2015
From Mossthwaite Fell, keeping to E of walls as far as possible. Despite vague quad track, the length of the grass at this time of year made for some rough going. Kitcham itself looked glorious with the heather in bloom. Summit was a small pile of stones on bilberry mound in deep heather about 12m from a 'lonesome pine'.Aye Jimmy19/08/2014
Kitcham Hill which is west of Birkett Fell although both could be names for the same hill. Kitcham Hill is the high point at 283 metres at SD 66917 48093 and is a P44 hill. Photo on Geograph.Dugswell204/03/2013
