From WSW. Parked on Rochdale Road, about 170m SW of the Oldham Way - Followed Oldham Way before heading E. over pasture & collapsed wall to the unmarked summit & nearby trig point. Excellent viewpoint.gerrybowes25/10/2023
Walked up from newhey.chevyfire22/06/2023
Here for the trigpoint. TP:UK log: Interesting start to this on a footpath that had seen better days, very overgrown and big dips and hidden culverts. Good views from the trigpoint.thejackrustles18/07/2022
Parking area to SSW opposite school, along road then followed FP to top and trig, back down Rochdale Way and then Moss Gate Road. Done at dusk.PeterD10/10/2021
Moss Gate [Hey Farm S2788] from GR: SD 92806 09870, car park by park. Could park closer at northern end of Brellafield Drive. Large herd of cattle in summit field.ronaldo33327/09/2021
a rather nice frozen grassy hill with trig and views.Denise 01/02/2021
From Milnrow up the excellent cobbled Garside farm track then over fields of pasture to summit. Extensive all-round views on a cold but sunny morning, no snow but ground frozen hard. High point seems to be 9m SE of trig pillar. A messy descent through Whitfield Hall and Park Farm.RichardM01/02/2021
From Brellafield Drive via extremely wet and treacherously slippery footpath/stream then paddy fields. One of those little hills that is barely noticeable from below but a surprisingly commanding viewpoint.Wycombe Wanderer30/01/2020
8 of 8 on 21 mile grueller bike ride. Lots of cows in the way. Had to make sure to steer well clear of the bullThe-Z-Man15/07/2019
Followed Moorsman's sound advice.Reasonable views from top.With Oscar.catman11/05/2019

Easy roadside parking down Moss Gate Road. Follow the track until a footpath leaves it heading left. THIS PATH FOLLOWS A STREAM BED AND IS FLOODED AFTER RAIN, IT IS PASSABLE BUT VERY WET (READ OTHER REVIEWS). Most people appear to follow this route to the summit, but, rather than follow the flooded track back follow the path through Green Hill. 20 minutes return.moorsman07/03/2019
Parked on Moss Gate Road then along pot holed road then footpath to the top. Done in the dark again!John Eley22/12/2018
Parked at top of Brellafield Dive. Fp more like a brook than fp. No bulls encountered. On holiday in Benidorm although this seems a silly choice of holiday for a bull. Oldham completed. Not over enthralled, I’m afraid.Campbell Singer11/11/2018
Parked on Moss Gate Road, followed track to 2nd footpath on left then up to topBramley05/09/2018

As David Gradwell. Massive snowdrifts in the northerly enclosed footpath.David Evans04/03/2018
Possibly some of the muddiest fields I ever walked through!Dusty25/11/2017
finally got to this Oldham trigged tump at last for sunset from the sw on ROW and for the second time today across a field with cows, calves and a bull, which growled menacingly as I passed by 50metres away, cautiously. On my return after a glorious sunset two cows and calves had come nearer across the route I'd walked up. I went over to the other far side of the field and yet again the bull let out a continuing low growl, but didn't move at all. Phew!vegibagger19/06/2017
A quick jaunt Ascent from Jubilee Colliery, A663, Whitfield Hall, Moss Gate (& Trig) - Muddy top but the cows seem happy enough.briandavies26/12/2016
Burnedge (dropped off by Dugswell) to Newhey.Smudge18/12/2016
1st of four hills from Milnrow to Derker station and my Oldham completion walk. Over the M62 and into Newhey taking track out Sw and then fp's meeting the Rochdale way, easy to veer off and visit the summit. Beautiful light and ponies encountered on the way up. High point a few metres away from the trig.I continued on the Rochdale way to Moss gate road through some atrocious muddy/manurey quagmire en-route to Crompton Moor.Dazingdale04/12/2016
As ngthack and it was definitely a stream today and foggy on top as well so little in way of viewsMark Sims14/11/2016

Climbed steeply from the north up a flag stone track and field fps. Pre WW1 this was Lancashire cotton spinning country with its coal fields powering the mills. The cotton being brought in by the Rochdale canal with its cross Pennine link. Close by is the preserved 120 foot chimney (tall to get a good draught)of the engine shed and boiler house that powered (the now demolished) Elenroad Cotton Mill.Chris Pearson05/08/2015
Parked on the B6194 and used the Oldham Way from the WSW to access the field with the trig and summit.Dugswell201/05/2015
From B6194 to west. Moss Gate track, then second footpath on left. Is it a path, is it a stream ?ngthack28/01/2015

From B6194 road to SW took track leading to Whitfield Hall. After passing playing fields on R and behind some nice houses f/p leads off to left. Followed this, mostly in a beck-bottom, to open fields and trig. Highest point about 20m away.Aye Jimmy11/05/2014
from Memorial park, Newhey, with Dick Hill & Moy Hill. cool, mainly cloudy.joseph mitchell26/02/2014
Parked on Moss Gate Rd at junction with Greenhill Ave at SD 92532 09974. Walked up road (becomes track) to second public footpath on left. Highest ground 20m SSE of trigDavid Gradwell05/05/2013
On a cycle-bagging ride from Tandle Hill to Walsden. Locked my bike on a cul-de-sac on the south side and took a path up the fields to the trig. Really quite a fine viewpoint over Rochdale.Jake99414/06/2012
