From Luthrie on clockwise circular. | Jossker | 15/01/2023 |
From Ayton Smithy. Error in ascent and descent took me into a ghastly gorse forest for several minutes. Lovely snowy synny day when not in gorse. Extensive views from the trig. | alexmaclennan | 17/12/2022 |
Parked NO3111220976. Up tracks to NO3034020500 then path to summit. Down to NO3098520093 and back down tracks to road. | PeteF | 15/10/2022 |

Solo . V limited car parking….as this is farming | VerySlowPlodder | 20/11/2021 |
1st of 4 Marilyn's for the day. Parked in lay-by at Pittachope, followed Fife Coastal path to first stile, then up field to NE side of ridge, over fence and up path to summit. Continued across top and down to col, then down to meet FCP at sheep pens. Back along track to car. 1.7 miles under 50mins round trip. | JulieB | 01/11/2021 |
A pleasant ascent from Glenduckie. Bit misty by the time I reached the summit. Solo. | meltdiceburg | 19/10/2021 |
From Pittachope along the Fife Coast Path over a stile and a gate by sheep pens. The right beside a wall, left on an initially steep path up the east ridge to the summit, returning by a path heading NW from the summit, then swinging E to follow a wall to rejoin the outward route above the sheep pens. A panorama from the summit stretching from the Mounth to the Lomond Hills. | Nick Down1 | 24/09/2021 |
Ascended from the N from the FCP. Great views and the hill to ourselves. A wee gem and a longer than expected return walk to Newburgh in the heat. | ragudave | 24/07/2021 |
With Frances as an extra on a section of the Fife Coastal Path from Glen Duckie to Balmerino. Very wet and poor visibility but we could see the potential of this viewpoint on a better day. There was a small party working on the historical site near the summit. | langskill | 26/05/2021 |
Large layby NO 311210. Track then good path NO 310201 | carole engel | 14/05/2021 |

Parked in layby/Fife Coastal Path parking at NO310209 then followed Fife Coastal Path south and ascended via (broken) style at ~NO309202 descended via style at ~NO304203 and followed Fife Coastal Path back to parking with DA. | Danmawr | 14/07/2019 |
Parking in lay-by 100m W of Pittachope, NO311209. 50m further W on road, then L (SW) up track, on 'Fife Coastal Path' (even though it is almost 2km from the sea), to sign saying 'keep left', but pointing R. So, went R until RH bend at about NO303204, where a stile on L, gives access to a path, which is indistinct through long grass, to a disfunctional stile, then a final zig-zag up. No view in the horizontal rain. | Isbjorn | 24/06/2019 |
Easy walk from car parking area near Pittachope. Good views. | willyross | 21/09/2018 |
Easy ascent from the north with the early mist clearing. | Windy Corner | 01/07/2018 |
From Pittachope layby | BLACKHILL | 23/03/2018 |
By shortest route. Calm, sunny day with atmospheric haze. Beautiful. | Rounsfell | 10/02/2018 |
With Brian R. on a cold, windy winters day. Carried on east from the summit to regain the track back to the car to the north. | Play2End | 13/01/2018 |
Second hill on a sunny but cold and windy day, with Kirsty and Robert, walking from Pittachope. | barnz48 | 12/11/2017 |
A nice walk up a great hill. Fife coast path car park, then along the Fife coast path, then the left fork across a field, though the gate and then right up a good, steep, grassy path. Amazing views of the Tay estuary from the top, not to mention the rest of Fife. | Gill | 09/11/2017 |
From the Pittachope layby. | Chris Peart | 25/10/2017 |
From NO310209. | summitsup | 28/09/2017 |
Parked at A913 Ayton Smiddy. Got into conversation with Mike Robertson as I passed the Studio (see A.Dempster's book). He said he climbs the hill almost every day. I walked up and down the hill with him. | ChrisR | 09/09/2017 |
Took the Walk Highlands route from Luthie https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/fife-stirling/normans-law.shtml for an extended circular walk, really enjoyable. | thejackrustles | 05/04/2017 |
3rd of 4 Ma today and the best, helped by sunshine. The heavy showers were to the S, view N was good, all the Firth of Tay; a chaotic scene of snow and cloud and sun NW, Ben Chonzie's slopes gleaming white. From the signboard/layby by Pitachope, up/back by the very fine E ridge, knobbly, rock, heather. I noted there are signposted ways up from Luthrie, too. | pwheeler | 21/03/2017 |
From Pittachope layby | kdbennett | 27/11/2016 |
Parked at Luthrie village hall at 15.30. Mike a bit tired from Ben Vorlich walk earlier but weather too good to miss. Great views from this hill, looking down the Tay to Dundee and also back to Perth. Company: Mike Stevenson | iandesbottes | 27/08/2016 |
Early stroll up from the NE. Good path beside the fence on the E side of the hill. | amswanston | 19/06/2016 |
From layby on road to NE (at NO311209). Approached summit from N. Descended to E. Descent was the better route (no fences to cross). Route and write-up at: http://gayleybird.blogspot.co.uk/2016/05/three-and-extra-one.html | Gayle | 28/05/2016 |
Weather fair. | MountainMac | 22/03/2016 |
From the Pittachope layby. The 1:25000 map shows the track leading to the east side, so we went up that way. Then there's an unmapped track off the NW side of the top, that leads over the 243m spot and a couple of stiles to the so-called coastal path above the wood. | Pete R | 20/02/2016 |
From the north along the coastal path route. Broke from this just before the forest on the right. Up across field, through the gate and then over fence beneath the hill. Then a path goes around and up the hill anticlockwise. Snow and mist and dusk made it not quite so easy. | jenx | 01/12/2015 |
With Jenx from minor road to NE. Two lay-bys for parking. Follow track to woods then direct across fields to North end of the Law. Followed footprints in snow to summit. No view sadly due to dreek, mist and snow. Back down SE ridge to col and across field to start. | nordicstar | 01/12/2015 |
Self, Peter and dog. Ascent from the north very easy along newly-fenced path; no issues with cows. Very fine view. | Invicta14 | 20/05/2015 |
Parked in the large space at 310209. An easy 40 minute walk to the summit and back. Solo. | bolton | 07/04/2015 |
self | davidsbatty | 10/03/2015 |
Losing daylight by the time the summit was reached, after starting from the layby just west of Pittachope - good views of city lights in many directions! Dark by the time I returned to the car. | martin_hall | 31/10/2014 |
parked west of pittachope in layby, track 100m west of this to summit. | robertphillips | 25/10/2014 |
A Friday evening with Ali and without kids. Ascended from Luthrie Lovely evening and superb views from the summit. | paddyirish | 11/07/2014 |
Overcast, dry, mild, good views. | iangalbraith | 02/03/2014 |
Using track from the N | AndrewFinnimore | 09/02/2014 |
Started from village hall in Luthrie, follow tracks to base of summit. Sunny, but windy at top. Surprisingly good views to Highland summits. | oriolefan101 | 11/01/2014 |
Linda | Glenford | 31/10/2013 |
Ascent from the north. Parked on lane to Brunton near start of track. With JdF. | Man of Kernow1 | 09/10/2013 |
A nice walk completed by my whole family including a 6 year old. Picked up my 1000th geocache at the summit making it a very memorable and special day. | Dornorn | 31/08/2013 |
From Minor road to North, pleasant half hour walk. | nickywood1 | 04/07/2013 |
Parked at NO310210. Lovely views of the Tay. | Play2End | 26/05/2013 |
Start: Telephone box on A913 at Dunbog. Notes: ascended via Glenduckie. 1:25k map very useful. Descended via Denmuir. Note house built across track on edge of woods shown on 1:50k but not on 1:25k. The associated access marked 'private' can be circumnavigated through woods to west and over a few fences with minimal additional effort. In hindsight it may be even easier to go to the East. | raffemeister | 25/05/2013 |
MC | Martin66 | 05/09/2010 |
Starting from the car park at Luthrie village hall, a long, long walk up farm tracks until the hill proper starts. | adrinux | 14/08/2010 |
From NE, track starting near Pittachope. Trig and indicator on top. Fine views over Firth of Tay. | Aye Jimmy | 24/11/2009 |
Very wet indeed but looks like it would be lovely in better weather. | andy | 21/11/2009 |
KeithByTheC | 29/10/2009 | |
From road north of Norman's Law at NO310162. On track heading towards Norman's Law. However, when I entered a field through which the track went a herd of about 20 bullocks charged towards me. I escaped by climbing over a gate into an adjacent field. I went round and through a forested area with a little difficulty to join a track which branches off the original track and goes past the base of the hill on the east side from where there are paths going up the hill. You can see a surprising range of mountains from the summit eg Lochnagar, Schiehallion, Ben Lomond. | pwbellarby | 22/08/2009 |
From the minor road to north on a lovely dry clear day meeting 2 local ladies on the top...great views. | Dugswell2 | 06/08/2009 |
