From B 743 north of Muir, irk. I found roadside parking difficult, active farming area and ir house road ends ,so glad to have found some tarmac sourg of Greenick Bridge where could safely leave vehicle. Farm track to Priesthill. Soggy AtV, that will take you aling a march fence line to summit of Priesthill. B w fence. Heathery hummock tussocky, follwo animal tracks. Cross wimdarm track. Back ti hummocky tussocky. End is in sight. Return the same eayVerySlowPlodder13/01/2024

From Head of Greenock Water, gppd parking, to the end of the track which goes further than shown,a few hundred metres of damp rush patches and then easily up to the quarry on good sheep tracks on the north side of the burn. The ATV track to the trig starts on the right hand side of the quarry behind a 3 foot marker post.Lots of Herdwick sheep to admire along the way.ARM13/12/2023
Followed PaulineD suggestion from layby on Muirkirk to Strathaven road (NS698292) to avoid tramping windfarm tracks. At Priesthill Farm follow south of the line of trees to a gate and then after 10m or so take an obvious ATV track to the left. This is relatively dry and free of boggy tussocks on the route to the impressive Martyr Grave. Continue to an ATV junction (NS 725 317) and head right down the burn towards the grave. If you leave crossing the burn until close to the grave there are few muddy tussocks to contend with. From the grave it is surprisingly easy to head up to the fence junction at NS 734325 via sheep trods and short grass. There is a broken wooden gate 50m to the west of the fence junction which provides easy access to the open moorland leading on towards the summit. An ATV track starts from the top of the disused quarry (NS 737332) and heads to the right side of the obvious mast all the way to the top. On the way back a direct route along sheep trods from the broken ColinW23/04/2023
Massive wind farm construction site. Fenced off with keep out signs. I went on a Sunday when the site is empty. Parked at the end of the public road just before South Cumberhead. Signposted path into the forest past the derelict farm. Bypassed fence with keep out signs. Further along the track I set off an alarm and cctv got my photo! Carried on regardless. A long walk through the construction site on a good road. Eventually summited then walked back the same way. The security guard found me on the way back and was happy for me to be there while no-one there on a Sunday. Set the alarm off again on the way back! Solo.Dangerous Dave30/10/2022
Followed the forest tracks by bike from South Cumberhead, but much is going on! New wind turbines and associated access roads under construction. The main forest track was being dug up so the constructors very kindly cut some steps with their huge digger so I could get up to the higher section. Once through the busy sections Nutberry Hill, Priesthill Height and Spirebush Hill were straightforward, but Meikle Auchinstilloch was impassable due to construction traffic and what seems like a turbine being sited on the summit. I'll come back in a couple of years when all has settled down.summitter27/07/2022
Parked at the South Cumberhead derilect farm where there is plenty of room. At 771337 there are now plant vehicles for 2/3 miles with plenty of health and safety stuff. Could be that access is restricted in weekdays. Faint path at 738336 takes a route to the summit. 10.6 miles and under 4 hours return. Solo.bolton12/03/2022
Jonglew's route from the junction of the Cumberhead and South Cumberhead tracks. Once past the desolate ruined building of South Cumberhead, a pleasant steady plod to Nutberry Hill, where a very lonely tree is near the summit. I detoured to Meikle Auchinstilloch on the way back, picking my way through tree stumps and brash while a roe deer showed how it should be done by hopping across the slopes like a wallaby.Nick Down107/11/2021
From the end of the public road to Cumberhead. We walked Jonglew's route. Longer than expected. There and back was 11.5 miles. Easy walking on the logging track: 4 hours. With Karen.ChrisR22/10/2021
With Bob from the west on the track, then across the moor. Tough going. Great views.Play2End18/07/2021
Parked at Head of Greenock Water then followed track up Dippal Burn. Flanked Priesthill Height on atv tracks on ascent and followed path/trod down burn from col on return. Surprisingly easy going given the tussocky nature.SS30/05/2021
My final Marilyn in section 27, hurrah! Chauffeurred in style by Jon Glew up the forestry track from South Cumberhead to park at the quarry SW of the summit, 4WD essential. Along the track NE; where it re-enters the forest, there is a grassy bog/stream with a sort of vague path alongside it which goes to the trig and then to the summit.Gill14/05/2021
Drove forest logging road to park at disused quarry (NS 7373 3317), although would have closer to park further along at NS 7385 3356 where we left the logging road to take a faint trod through heather to the top, ~40m SE of the trig.jonglew14/05/2021

Parked in quarry below Priesthill Farm at 713306 - Up track to farm & then alongside conifers to gate - Through gate & forked left up ATV track to a height of about 400m - Over boggy area & then pretty tough going up to Priesthill Height - ATV track down right side of fence & up to forest road & quarry - ATV track from back of quarry to trig point & unmarked summit. Parked near Cumberhead, at NS781347 (I didn't dare drive the rough track to South Cumberhead). Then bike to NS738335, and a rough 10-15 minutes walk to the top. The trig is obviously not the top but gives a better view, which is what trigs are for, I suppose...Pete R02/03/2019
From the east, via South Cumberhead, cycled up farm and forestry tracks to 460m then through young trees up onto soft and uneven summit heath.Topographer5702/09/2018
From spirebush, a quad track exists behind small roadstone quarry. Certainly easier than rough tussockscjo11/08/2018
From parking outside Outdoor Centre at Douglas West. Biked in along forest tracks, before ascending from track to SW of summit. Recorded route and write-up at: http://gayleybird.blogspot.com/2018/04/nutberry-hill-ns743338-522m.htmlGayle22/04/2018
From Head of Greenock Water, via Spirebush Hill.agentmancuso24/02/2018
I cycled on the forest tracks until I reached the moor at the small quarry (not disused - stone is being extracted Aug 2018) at NS737331. Here I left the bike and walked the boggy moor to the summit. Start point was the locked gate at NS778337 where there was just room to park one car. I had to reverse back to the derelict South Cumberhead Farm though to turn the car round. Operated ham radio for SOTA on the summit.G4OBK (Phil)20/08/2017
Walked from Priesthill Farm via the Martyr's Grave, up and over Priesthill Height to the summit, then back via Dippal Burn. Nice views of the other local Marilyns & Lambs galore!Chris Mac01/05/2017
Long walk along forest tracks from Cumberhead. Looking across glen, looks like there's a much quicker way up via Eaglinside.AndrewFinnimore24/10/2016
From Priesthill, parked at road but couldn't see any restriction to drive up to a large area below the farm. Rain most of the day was a wet tramp over the moorland via the Covananter Martyr John Brown memorial. A day for ducks.N.Morters20/08/2016
Parked below Priesthill Farm near sheep pens and building then track to skirt farm and onto dry moorland on direct route to Priesthill Height. Continued onto Nutberry Hill then returned by Starpet Rig on a warm and sunny morning.Dugswell202/06/2016
From NS 75442 28931 at Glenbuck off the A70. Over Hareshaw Hill and Common Hill to NS 79057 35576 near Coalburn where I was given a lift.Alan Moore15/01/2016
Parked below Priesthill farm w Jenx, ample off road here. Past the farm, path to the monument long gne, instead headed up the hill following sheep tracks and occasional FWD lines. From Priesthill height there's a good FWD track over the fence that continues to the forest road. This can be taken to close to summit or a FWD track goes out the back of a small quarry at the point the road is joined all way to trig summit. A dreary trudge at best over rough ground.nordicstar24/11/2015
Nice name. Shame about the hill!jenx24/11/2015

Walked good dirt track to Priesthill Farm (can be legally driven) from B743. Track to John Brown's grave indistinct. Then very rough going through tussock grass to summit.Man of Kernow112/12/2010
From Middlefield Law. Moorland not as rough as anticipated after the track ran out. Descent to Muirkirk via Priesthill.campagvelocet20/05/2010

From Head of Greenock Water to West, with Fiona, back over Priesthill Height & Starpit Rig.agentmancuso03/02/2002
Track to Priesthill to monument. On compass over incredibly spongy soft and wet grass reeds and mossy swamps around edge of stream in a ravine. Occasional buggy tracks in mist by forest edge to clearing 1/4m wide to access road and to trig at 14.25. No view - mist.arranc14/10/2001
From Common Hill then back to Glenbuck. Fast ground mostly.Eddie22/06/2000
*Date Approx* Did this hill with my dad when I was a lad as the 'flushbracket' on the trig-point is the same number as his DoB. Remember jumping burns and lots of heather. We had a can of chili con carne (self heating) on top, apart from that my memory is hazy.Columba15/06/2000
