On route from Penrith to Pontefract for funeral and dressed accordingly, so good this is a pavement top with no mud or climbing required. Highest point seems to be pavement by speed humps, but very flat top and no way of knowing where highest natural land would have been.Hillsidenick04/10/2017

My third hill of today and one that completes Wakefield. Climbed Upton Beacon from Moorthorpe station caught bus to Pontefract and wslked upto King's Mead before continuing to this hill en-route to Castleford bus station. Water towers of this Ilk seem to be quite popular. As others have srated highest ground is close to reservoir gates. Descent via park and cemetery before walking along high to bus station.Dazingdale21/01/2017

Had no map - just memory and aimed for the highest point- straightforward. In 2008 Castleford featured in a 4 episode series Big Town Plan presented by Grand Designs host McCloud, which aimed to see if good design, planning and targeted investment can regenerate communities - in this case Castleford, a down at heel former mining town in Yorkshire? To the SE of the town there is now the large Junction 32 multi-store centre and the Xscape Leisure Complex, Europe's largest indoor real snow slope.Chris Pearson13/08/2015
