Excellent grassy track all the way up from NN 3316 3190 (thru' gate over railway bridge) - a little indistinct at first but initially follows stream | carole engel | 18/06/2023 |
From Tyndrum, up WHW to bridge over railway, carried on 30mtrs to drumlins and up intermittent faint path up obvious ridge to mine workings. On up easier ground to summit. On return found good miners path zig-zagging all the way down, really not obvious from below! | Flatfield | 11/06/2023 |
From lay-by on A82, a good slog up steep slope for first of 5 Corbett’s. Low cloud but lifting at top with Ben Lui poking through cloud. Onto Beinn Chaorach. | PeterD | 06/06/2023 |
Clockwise round of Beinn Odhar, Beinn Chaorach and Cam Chreag, starting in the dark from the Dalrigh car park (just off the A82 partway up between Crianlarich and Tyndrum). Walked the WHW to Tyndrum and onwards over the railway bridge to head up Beinn Odhar. From Beinn Odhar, nearly a 500m drop down into Glen Cumhang, and a ~400m steep pathless re-ascent up Beinn Chaorach. However, after that, a fairly easy going ascent over to Cam Chreag finished the main ascents for the day - down to Glen Clachain and out via the track (initially quite wet). Good wee day out on the Tyndum hills - total time 6h 5min. | mproudfoot | 06/09/2022 |
From small layby at NN 330317, faint old packhorse path up to site of old mine workings and on to Beinn Odhar. Round ridge to Meall Buidhe then steeply back down to the railway bridge. | TRG318 | 06/10/2021 |
Mirek zoubek | Munroist3935 | 22/09/2021 |
From the layby at the high point of the A82 to the south west. Not so easy to get across the fence from the railway to the hillside. Then very steep but decent ground, mostly fairly short grass. | Owen B | 22/05/2021 |
First hill after a part of lockdown ends with Chris beautiful day, started Tyndrum, WHW then South ridge to top. | Hutchie | 23/04/2021 |
With a couple of days at Club’s cottage in Crianlarich and a poor forecast, I nipped up Beinn Odhar (901m) a Corbett above Tyndrum. Starting from a layby on the A82 then joining the west Highland Way to cross the West Highland railway line, followed by +2hrs of a boggy ascent then descent the same way.

I completely missed the memorial, but I did come across the mining adit around the 690m level (picture of a cave like feature) and what I assume is the mine shown on the OS map, which I didn’t photograph (this looks more like an old dwelling).

As its’ a smaller hill, it was below the clouds so there were some views, particularly south over Tyndrum and north east to Loch Lyon, 2:50hrs all in. | chillyman8 | 13/11/2020 |
A superb late Autumn day, with brilliant sunshine, the waning Hallowe'en blue moon and a cloud inversion. Parked in the second layby N of Tyndrum, crossed the railway bridge and followed faint grassy tracks zigzagging up Beinn Odhar's S ridge to the lead mine and on to the summit cairn. Easily down and across a slightly boggy col to Meall Buidhe, then a steep descent by the forestry. | Nick Down1 | 07/11/2020 |
10.2 miles 2728ft walk, Start at By-The-Way campsite Tyndrum follow West Highland Way to railway bridge just past water treatment plant, up Crom Alt and ridge onto Beinn Odhar, south east down ridge to Meall Buidhe, continue down ridge to Auchtertyre and West Highland Way back to Tyndrum. | stephenbuda | 23/08/2020 |
Tyndrum - Beinn Odhar - Meall Buidhe - Tyndrum. | Mark Jackson | 01/08/2020 |
From the railway bridge over the Crom Allt then up due east besides the forest then onwards over open ground to Meall Buidhe. Then along the wide ridge to Beinn Odhar, taking in ever more superb views in all directions as we climbed higher. A 30 minute nap on the sunny summit before down the SSW flank back to the car. Will take just over a couple of hours if you miss out the kip. | summitter | 12/06/2020 |
In whiteout conditions on foot from Tyndrum hostel. | liljonb | 19/02/2020 |
Climbed (or rather swam) with Andrew and Berenice. Terrible day low vis and wash out. Planned to do 2, returned after 1 | amcculloch | 07/12/2019 |
From layby on A82 just N of Tyndrum, followed track up Beinn Odhar, down to bealach between Alt Cumhang and Allt a' Chaol Ghlinne and up to Beinn Chaorach, then along ridge to summit of Cam Chreag, descending to Coreheynan, followed tracks down to Auchtertyre, then back to Tyndrum along West Highland Way | kdbennett | 24/08/2019 |
Quick dash from railway bridge - up direct from WHW then down S ridge. | quadbarrel | 03/08/2019 |
Quite steep. Went with John. It is a stunning viewpoint and we had a good day for views. Saw some lichen. | Veryhappybunny | 06/07/2019 |
With Mick & Mary. | MickyRoss | 27/05/2019 |
From Tyndrum, followed West Highland Way then once over the railway bridge joined grassy path directly to the summit. The path is indistinct in places, one or two avoidable boggy sections midway but mostly very dry underfoot. Fine views from the summit. | david230201 | 06/05/2019 |

The 5 Corbetts from the summit of the A82 between Tyndrum and the Bridge of Orchy. Beinn Odhar, Beinn Chaorach, Cwm Chreag, Beinn nam Fuaran, and Beinn a' Chaisteil. A major undertaking in one day, being 27km with 2150m ascent, taking 9h30m. | silveracorn_alan | 20/08/2017 |
Round of Odhar, Chaorach and Cam Chreag. Climbed directly from the roadside. Very steep climbs up both Odhar and Chaorach. Hot day (24c), great visibility. | Roblex | 24/07/2017 |

A glorious day's bagging of 3 Corbetts from Tyndrum. Clear views, sunny and a cool breeze. Beinn Odhar is easily the best of the 3 hills, a fine pointy cone, but Beinn Chaorach and Cam Chreag are also very fine. Perfect easy going, even on the steep ups and downs. I went out to the end of the Cam Chreag ridge (just in case of future resurveys), and this gives good views along Glen Lochay. I wouldn't recommend the direct descent from the 859m bealach. It's fine down to the fence, but then it's purgatorial going through the regenerating woodland, for which read lots of hidden holes containing dead saplings, misguidedly planted in a bog. It's only short though, and the going gets better once you find the ATV track. Back to Tyndrum on the West Highland way. Overall, an excellent walk. One of the few Corbett rounds where there is no stalking. | Gill | 22/09/2016 |
Started from layby close to boundary line and crossed railway line by underpass then straight up. returned down track to Auch Farm. | justin999 | 17/09/2016 |

Beinn Odhar (NN 338338) & Beinn Chaorach (NN 359328) S/F NN330316 Cold, bright clear winter day on snow covered hills. Second ascent tiring in snow, so slower than anticipated. Planned route of discent into Crom Allt was observed to be very icy on ascent, and probably unsafe in failing light. Used alternative route of discent along S ridge of Beinn Chaorach to raod at NN348288. Bit late back to car but safe. | John Young | 01/01/2006 |
