Evening ascent with Darren through wooded country park from car park to NE to complete R & C. Owl put up in summit trees by D ahead of me. Then after encircling the large fenced reservoir we managed to reach the 'inaccessible' trig by squeezing under the main gate where heavy machinery had gouged a sloping hollow in the road. Required a sideways crab move in the press up position to keep out of the gravelly dirt. Not a move one often performs. Later,a chip supper where we were given extra free chips and a bun because we 'looked hungry'! Then drove across the Pennines to camp high in fog and rain and dark next to the lonely Tan Hill road at 500m | Chris Pearson | 28/07/2016 |
