Large visitors car park attached to the abbey (nice tea rooms there too). Public footpath follows tarmac road through abbey grounds as far as the caged in hockey area. Thence a waymarked path up the hill from which you can deviate to the summit quite easily. 30 minutes return followed by tea in the tea rooms.moorsman11/11/2015

Large parking area at Park House Cottages to SW. Walked N up private road to Ampleforth College to far end of first rugby field. Track to R and gate into field with bronze statue of man on skyline at SE 60534 77976. Past this (or through wood if you don't like cows) to summit hedges and flat fields. High point taken as being about 35m into field from E hedge and about 25m in from N hedge.Aye Jimmy09/10/2014
