Large visitors car park attached to the abbey (nice tea rooms there too). Public footpath follows tarmac road through abbey grounds as far as the caged in hockey area. Large parking area at Park House Cottages to SW. Walked N up private road to Ampleforth College to far end of first rugby field. Track to R and gate into field with bronze statue of man on skyline at SE 60534 77976. Past this (or through wood if you don't like cows) to summit hedges and flat fields.
