First had a look around the Abbey then around the hill and up to the trig point. With R+R.Dan Baddeley20/01/2024
Parked in a lay-by due East of summit, near Criftin. Marked track all the way to the top. Returned via the blue route.summitter01/09/2023

Parked to the North in carpark (£2 for 2 hours) SJ545147.David Evans08/10/2022
From minor road to SW, up FP, but lots of tracks meant I emerged at viewpoint which easily led to the trig and nearby HP. Back down FP. Whilst no view from HP nearby viewpoint afforded good views on a clear sunny day.PeterD09/08/2022
From visitor centre CP (not free) along good paths. In the trees so no views but pleasant walk. About 30m ascent. With Carla and Felix.RoguePulsar12/06/2022
Parked at visitor centre, well pathed, not steep and short walk, we heard a cuckoo as well! With Dad and Mum.speedyclimber12/06/2022
Good parking on lane to the E (near The Criftin), then easy walk up to the trig and on to the cafe for a cuppa.milimana27/04/2022
Parked at dirt pull-in on minor road to SW (SJ 5385 1294). RoW's don't match up too well, but got into the woods eventually where there are paths everywhere. High point probably ~15m SE of the trig pillar.jonglew03/11/2021

Just a little detour between (virtual) checkpoints 7 and 8 on the orienteering course. Woodland heaving with visitorsM3WDD14/10/2020
Trig point clearly visible and only 30 feet from path running through southern part of wood. Not to be confused with the clifftop viewing point on the south east corner of wood.Ed29/01/2020
Walked through the forest from the car park to the trig point to the viewpoint and then down the southern footpath. Clear winter's day, sun setting.brandybordeaux29/12/2019
With Jo: pleasant walk through the woods from the Forestry Commission car park on a cloudy morning. No views from summit, but extensive views from various viewpoints on the west side of hill.amblerbob30/11/2018
Followed Campbell's/AJ's route from the SW. Nice walk.Herbert Anchovy10/10/2018
Parked to s at start of fp which quickly goes into wood. Feels wrong but worth following. Pleasant stroll up through woods to clear top. Met a couple from my home town, Perth, near the top. Bracken dying off in August,Campbell Singer24/08/2018
Good parking spot and f/p from SW. Path through crop then into wood, up and over past sculptures then through wood to trig, with summit in clearing nearby.Aye Jimmy05/06/2018
1st of three hills today. Green lane Station to Chester then train to Crewe then train to Shrewsbury. I followed the Shropshire way to Uffington then took a fp to the base of the hill then a rising fp before taking a track to a crossroad of paths and amazingly spotted an Otter padding towards me before it realised and then veered off into the undergrowth. I made my way to the Trig point but highest point is a few metres away on a levelled area. I took a path over to explore Douglas's Leap. Beautiful expansive views then a steep track joins up with the Shropshire way. I continued to rejoin my outward route to finish back in ShrewsburyDazingdale30/04/2017
Car park busy and still free on a sunny Friday afternoon. Footpaths a bit muddy.Dugswell224/03/2017
From car park on N side of hill(free in winter). Surprisingly busy even at 09:00 in the morning. Woodland tracks to trig point and adjacent summit of 12m diameter grass and bed rock which appears to have been levelled ? No views.RichardM01/02/2017
at Trig in small grassy clearing in mixed forest. Accessed from Forestry Commission car park with toilets and cafe ( free parking in winter). Clearing 20 p away of similar height.Denise 01/02/2017

From Criftin. Trig point is a couple of metres from the summit so I don't know where RHW went to.clivevilla03/03/2016
I'm sure I've been up there about 20 times since this time on the log but it' the only one I can find with a photo to back it up. From the car park on a circular walkgreboicus28/05/2015

Lots of dog crap..stig_nest11/03/2015
It's pleasant enoughNormski02/06/2014
What can be said about Haughmond Hill. OK to walk the dog (watch out for dog mess and bikes). Now boasts a cabin and refreshments. Not the place to come to walk in the quiet unless you pick a rainy wednesday afternoon in February. Excellent view from the edge, over Shrewsury, River Severn and beyond. Fabulous for dissabled access but I just don't like the place! No acsent or decent. Does not feel like a hill walk because its's not. It's more like a walk to the end of a wooded pier. My least favorite Shropshire Hill.Steve W11/05/2013
Revisited for the trig, which is a surface block although has a trig symbol on 25k mapRHW10/03/2013
