During a walk done many times from Tring station to Ivinghoe Beacon. Decided to venture up through the trees. Actual summit could be almost anywhere in thick undergrowth.NotReallyABagger23/09/2021

As a detour from the Ridgewaylerritt31/05/2021
I passed on this one 18 months ago as was exhausted at the end of a long walk. Was well worth diverting off the Ridgeway - beautiful woodland particularly at this time of year with the wild primroses and bluebells.jedthehumanoid18/04/2021

With PJ. Grotty, rainy, windy, misty day but good to get out during lockdown. From parking at 955149. Pitstone Hill, then detour off the bridleway through easy bracken to the wooded indeterminate summit, then through the golf course, Aldbury, up to the Bridgewater monument, fairly aimless stroll NE then N then NW through the woods ending up on the good gravel track above the scarp meeting the minor road NNW of Crawley Wood, then good path back to the start point.Owen B14/11/2020

As Mark Sims. I agree with the comment no real paths in the woods. I continued on the E side of the fence to go straight up the N ridge, a mistake alleviated by a break in the bw fence. Came down the best way, picking up a good trod to the NR sign on the Ridgeway path. NR a nice spot for my snack. Very good walking countrypwheeler03/08/2020

11.5 mile circular from Ivinghoe village along the canal then up slippery paths onto Aldbury Nowers, easy bag from the Ridgeway, then along to Ivinghoe Beacon and down to the village, clear, sunny and surprisingly mild for Christmas Eve!DanTrig24/12/2018

Stage 8 and Final stage of the Ridgeway walk from Tring station to Cheddington with Lesley, this the 1st of 2 hills, i detoured off to visit. A short out and back through the woods. Several high points logged as summit contenders. Very busy today on the paths. We got stuck behind a group of women with dogs on long leads. Next hill would be Clipper Down.Dazingdale28/09/2018
Ambled from NT carpark to N, along Ridgeway then branched off L into woods. Accompanied part way by holiday hordes and dozens of Ridgeway Runners.Aye Jimmy25/08/2018
from road into wood and Ridgeway signs. Up through open trees to upper path and HP. Don't think that Patricia and I came this way on the Ridgeway in 1992.arranc28/06/2018

Great little ridge walk, sunny with bracing breeze. Easy meandering through woods with mum and dad to highest point. Ate Christmas sandwiches in the woods. Good view to Ivinghoe Beacon.Wycombe Wanderer26/12/2016

From north on Ridgeway. Entered wood just after information board using clear area under some large trees. Aimed for daylight on the ridge which kept wood open and easy. Found slight path along ridge.Took path almost to top. Just slight detour to locate top. Anyone's guess as to summit so I took it to be the centre point of the highest contour which also happened to be a slight clearing in the undergrowth. Only a few nettles right at the top. Enjoyable throughout.ijpowell02/09/2016
A bit of thrashing around, but having just read Bill Bryson's bear attack stories in 'A Walk in the Woods' on the Appalachain Trail I cant really complain about a few brambles and nettles. Imagine having to suddenly climb a tree in rapid fear - and if it worked -when would you dare come down?Chris Pearson08/06/2016
Parked in the car park at SP 95445 14925 and followed the Ridgeway National Path to Aldbury Nowers. Crisscrossed up the hill to surprise a small unsuspecting herd of Deer. Reconnected to the path just outside the golf course and completed a 3.5 miles loop back to the car. Lovely sunny day!bgalon25/03/2016
