It was a long drive from my temporary base in Leicestershire but worth it for this lovely little country park in autumn colours. The supposed high point was duly attained but the highlight was picking out Ely cathedral through my camera zoom | Colin Crawford | 23/11/2023 |
With Sybil.
Parked in layby on A1307 SB dual carriageway and cut through gap in hedge. Picked up marked footpath then turned north on unmapped path to pick up Iron Age ramparts. Cut across fort and through hole in wall. Headed for abandoned house but no way through directly so picke dup track to SE and followed to 75m contour.
Then a bit of a bushwack through nettles and brambles to highpoint which may be man made.
Only a few stings and scratches. I think Sybil gets this hill-bagging malarky. | mntainman | 31/08/2023 |
From Cambridge Station on cycleway and E2 LDP. Into country park from the north then followed paths and various trods in the trees to Telegraph Copse. 6.5 miles, return by bus. | Moorponder | 16/09/2022 |
Storm Eunice . Park only accessible at own risk but still a nice stroll amongst the snowdrops. | Mark Sims | 18/02/2022 |
More or less as PGCE. | johnkenyon | 11/02/2022 |
'More like the Fog Mafog Hills', remarked Bag For Life. | Wycombe Wanderer | 19/12/2021 |
From Cambridge on the bike. Took the track in from SH71 on the A1307. Hid the bike behind a shed on the left, then followed the country park paths to near the high point before the obligatory 'wandering around a bit'. | MickyRoss | 15/10/2021 |
On a 10km run | sturuss | 22/09/2021 |
Unbelieavble, I didn't visit the trig but did visit the highest point near the fence overlooking Golf Course. | DavidGMould | 30/08/2020 |

Parked in layby. Paths through park. About 15m after turn-off to Banyard Hide, a faint path goes left, easily through the trees and over a low fence to the golf course. | PGCE | 26/05/2020 |
After Rowley's Hills, i parked up beside the Post box on the layby on the busy A1307. Started exploration heading Nne using private 'ride' leading to cottage then veered off to wander back onto the country park paths. Explored paddock via gate then over fence and onto golf course, heading over to the fairway and back via the green. Back the same way to the junction of paths at NW corner then up to the artificial mounds but centred on the 75m contour. Highest'natural' ground must either be in paddock near tree or at jct of paths. Passed by Trig pillar exiting field via gate then through walled garden passing 74m spot (lower) then via car park and over to the other side of the A road to visit the 74m spot on Little Trees hill, reading lower. Wandlebury is the site of an Iron age hill fort. Back to the car, now sandwiched between two others and a good time for food before heading over to the final tump of the day, Haddenham Village... | Dazingdale | 23/02/2020 |
A detour from a circular walk from Cherry Hinton including the Harcamlow Way, the Roman Road and the Gogs café. Found the compost heaps by the golf course. Precise natural HP unclear, but walked around a bit. | welshyboyo | 15/02/2020 |
One of my favourite hill names. From the lay-by, via the trig. Took the high point to be on a mound next to various compost heaps next to the golf course. | Herbert Anchovy | 22/11/2018 |
This is a very nice area to walk and a great name too! Wandlebury & Gog Magog is easily accessed by either the free spaces in the layby (room for about 10 or 11 cars) or parking in the Wandlebury Car Park, which is a little on the pricey side. Great views from the summit area! | Symon1p | 10/09/2018 |
Walked from country park to paddock on far side just off path.
Returned via trig with the cattle and electric fence. | PeterD | 13/04/2018 |
Electric fence put me off the column. Vast numbers of people here today. | arranc | 15/10/2017 |
Easy ascent from layby using footpath through the wood, past buildings and walled garden to field with trig. Then much less easily to higher ground through narrow wood to several mounds near golf course. | Aye Jimmy | 30/09/2017 |
Parked in layby on main road to save £3. Over electric fence in to field with Highland cattle around trig, then off to bag the prickly TUMP summit. | Dugswell2 | 30/08/2016 |
Still £3 parking but declined to pay it. Wandered across to the highland cattle enclosure after visiting the trig. Some head-high nettles to contend with on E side of the 75m contour. Couldn't say for sure where the HP is. | jonglew | 29/07/2016 |

Wandlebury country park -an intriguing place being a large iron age ring fort with large 17th C walled garden within -given over to lush meadow and wildflowers -with mown strips for paths - looked after by the charity Cambridge PPF (Past Present and Future). They are fighting a battle to prevent the park becoming an 'ecological island' cut off from other areas of countryside as Cambridge green belt succumbs to areas of development.Good to read that they encourage kids here to climb trees, build dens and race around playing hide and seek- rather than banning such 'risky'activities. | Chris Pearson | 01/06/2016 |
Parked in layby just past entrance. Nice walk up through woods to high point. Trig behind electric fence with highland cows. | mart0797 | 03/02/2016 |
delightful walk round the ring ditches and to the tump summit and chat to the heilan' coos and picking apples and collecting fungi. | vegibagger | 13/09/2015 |

Summer evening with friend Jeff from Milton. Parked at beech woods, walked up road onto Roman road. No way through the golf course so carried on Roman road and eventually through beautiful woods to Wandlebury. Went round to field via a bit of the ring, cattle protecting trig other side of electric fence, but high point in a field beyond via a narrow wood. Back via the main A road and past Babraham park and ride to make a circular walk. | pdantic | 07/07/2015 |
1600 hrs and only one other car in park, but paid my 3 quid for a short pleasant walk to the Clump | GordonAdshead | 11/02/2015 |
En route homeward from Far East Anglia. Visited trig and the high point AND the new (artificial / man made earth bank) high spot some 20 m N on the other side of the fence - edge of golf course. Highland cattle in the field next the 'summit' are a welcome if merest hint of high ground. | summitsup | 02/01/2015 |
Shelford to Whittlesford Parkway. | Smudge | 21/11/2014 |
3rd time here, at last made it to true summit! Quick jog from car park; there's also a layby just up the road if £3 too much to pay. This happened to take me to the British Tumps halfway point - 8392/16784 (using 28 Oct 2014 hill-bagging numbers). | RHW | 11/10/2014 |
£3 now. Nice spot for a wander | Bramley | 03/08/2014 |
Car park £2.50. Pleasant for a few hours and/or picnic. | destaylor | 13/02/2014 |
Got married here! | Fionalevey | 01/06/2013 |
Quiet wander DS | Fred Windsor | 19/05/2013 |
Good walk around the park. | Adrian | 16/01/2013 |
Wandered up this one whilst visiting the country park with the grandchildren. Pleasant place to spend an hour or two but, (when we went), there was nowhere to get any refreshments. Easy parking. | moorsman | 15/03/2012 |
Grandad took me to see the top whilst he was looking after me. I was only 20 months old but I climbed on the trig point. | Mollyb | 15/03/2012 |
We did this as the first walk with Cal in a carrier I think. | Ham and Skate | 29/05/2011 |
Top is in copse at boundary of country park, right on the standard circuit/nature trail around Wandlebury. Must have done this for the first time when I was 2 or 3! | Mark Jackson | 01/01/1994 |
Some people went to exciting places for their geography school trips. We went to the Gog Magog hills and I had to clear up someone else's vomit on the coach. There wasn't a country park in those days - just boring grassy fields. Yee-hah. | Martin R | 01/01/1965 |
