With Sybil.
Parked on grass verge at side of hedge in front of Eldorado Stables. Crossed road and walked along field boundary other side of roadside hedge before turning left past ROC station following grass farm track to gate on field corner.
Fortunately whet had been harvested sow walk across stubble to trig point.
Back the same way. | mntainman | 31/08/2023 |
Parked in layby 300m NE on Newton Rd. From Point 29m on road, followed farm track SW, then tractor tracks through crop to trig. Superb views of golden wheat against a blue sky with larks and yellow hammers singing. ROC bunker (open) at track entrance. | Denise | 04/07/2022 |
Crisp air, and beautiful sunshine. | johnkenyon | 11/02/2022 |
10:00, calm, 4 degrees, fog. With Bag For Life. | Wycombe Wanderer | 19/12/2021 |
On bike from Croydon Hill. Couldn't find the path from SH29 (think I was too close to the houses to the NW). So cycled round to the path by Manor Farm off the A10 up to the railway crossing. Lifted the phone as instructed by the sign and wished I hadn't bothered. Had to wait 2 or 3 mins for 2 trains to pass and then call back. Could have been at the top in the time this all took! Path goes to within 100m or so of the high point. Followed tractor tram lines through cultivated field to get there. | MickyRoss | 15/10/2021 |
Here for the trigpoint. TP:UK log:

With G2021 group. Walk from North East past ROC bunker (open btw). https://www.subbrit.org.uk/sites/harston-roc-post/ | thejackrustles | 09/10/2021 |
Running loop from Harston. Used the track from 29m SH, but path to the SW from Foxton seemed the better approach. | welshyboyo | 07/02/2021 |

Track from SH29. Layby parking 400m north. | PGCE | 26/05/2020 |
2nd Tump of 4 on a Cambs completion car bagging tour. 1st revisiting Croydon Hill then parking up beside track beside the A10. After manouevring the car around and to the side (avoiding ditch in the process) I followed the track to the railway line sandwiched between two gates; two trains passed as I walked up then continuing on track, veering off on tractor lines to the top to reach high ground to the Nw and over to the Trig pillar. Nice lighting effects today but cold wind. Re-traced route to the car. Continuation to Gog Magog Hills... | Dazingdale | 23/02/2020 |
Usual route. | Bramley | 12/04/2019 |
Standard route. | Herbert Anchovy | 22/11/2018 |
From NE along track and then across ploughed field | PeterD | 13/04/2018 |
From Point 29 to the east. Good track and then over ploughed field for final 150 ms to trig and slightly beyond. | Campbell Singer | 22/11/2017 |
As for Dugswell2 | arranc | 15/10/2017 |
From the E starting at Point 29 as GA. Track, then easily up last field which had been cropped. Thought ground NW of trig looked slightly higher. | Aye Jimmy | 30/09/2017 |
From Newton Church | Fred Windsor | 06/04/2017 |
From point 29 on Newton Road. Lovely day, bright with easterly breeze. Very dry underfoot. Explored the lynchet on the railway side of the trig, watched a train go by, on the way back watched for several minutes as some kind of bird of prey alternately flapped rapidly about 10-15 metres up to stay in position then swooped down to the field. Couldn't see whether it caught anything. | Owen B | 26/03/2017 |
Parked on minor road to NE then used track to access harvested field high point and trig. | Dugswell2 | 30/08/2016 |
As jonglew. Used your track through last few metres of wheat. Quite a few Tumps with ROC monitoring posts on or near the summit. | ngthack | 03/08/2016 |
From the 29m spot height, parked just inside field. Tractor lines through ripening cereal crop to trig at HP. Took a visit into the ROC monitoring shelter on the way back. | jonglew | 29/07/2016 |
Cycled from Cambridge via Shelford (on the wonderful busway then DNA path). 20 minutes up and down from road through wheat crop. With GFE. | Fionalevey | 19/06/2016 |
20,000 years this was an arctic landscape with mammoth, reindeer, and woolly rhinos whereas 120,00 years ago it was warmer grassland with lions, hippos, elephants. (bones all found close by on display in Cambridge Segwick Museum of Earth Sciences). No such safari interest today up track from road to east. Saw a rabbit - hardly the same. | Chris Pearson | 01/06/2016 |
From point 29, past the (unlocked) disused ROC Cold War bunker. | Pete R | 30/01/2016 |
Foxton to Shelford. | Smudge | 01/01/2016 |
From point 29. 15 mins there and back. Once past the end of the hedge, it is an open walk across a cornfield, part of the huge hedge less Cambridgeshire Prairie. Good viewpoint | trimarc2 | 21/11/2015 |
Rowley's hill... a bit of a poignant place to visit. It feels like a shrine to my cousin Mark Rowley who died few years back.
Lovely wee hill young braid bean crop just starting to grow. A small cops of trees on the NE slopes. | vegibagger | 13/09/2015 |
From point 29 | PeteN | 24/08/2015 |
Did it twice from point 29. First time dropped my car keys, second time looking for them. On way to Dover to catch ferry, had visions of whole trip wrecked because of hole in trouser pocket. As it was the French were on strike, anyway. A hill of beans. | Martin R | 23/06/2015 |
At last a proper hill after struggling to enjoy therfield hill a week earlier. Another bag from school in saffron walden on 'way home' to hoddesdon in Herts. Walked from Newton road to North East parked near railway line. Difficult to access top direct, but found the rows of crops the best way to approach from the other side, trial and error got me to the trig, but did another row to attain slightly higher ground a few metres away. Lovely views from a hill I had seen millions of times on the Cambridge-Liverpool Street line, and always fancied doing one day, but never ever did til now! | pdantic | 17/06/2015 |
Got frustrated with PhD work so the obvious solution was to go out cycling and tied it in with a short run to this summit from Newton Road. Stunning May afternoon, with good views of Cambridge and surrounding area. | AGWilliamson | 21/05/2015 |
Ignored W approach. Good track along field edge from 29 to NE and only 50m of field to trig | GordonAdshead | 11/02/2015 |
Fields planted with winter wheat. Will return after the harvest. | destaylor | 13/02/2014 |
A local Tump for 20 years, but not climbed since in the middle of a field - till Peter suggested it. Cycled from home, followed track from top of road at 432500 then narrow path through crops. Very good views, with Duxford air show as a bonus! | Mark Jackson | 01/07/2012 |
