From the layby about 400m NE of Overfingland. Along the road past the cottage to the Southern Upland Way. Followed to Corner of fence just before Laght Hill. Over fence and up Laght Hill. Off Laght Hill West on ATV track back to gate, pick up Southern Upland Way and followed to Cold Moss summit. Off Cold Moss NE over Inner Comb picking up a good ATV track which leads all the way down to a new shooting hut, where it turns into a good track back to Overfingland, follow wall down to N of farm through grassy field to a gate out onto the road. (Dont try to take a short cut directly across the grassy field as the sheep tracks lead to a new barbed wire fence in the corner, as I found out). 5.4 miles.JulieB19/02/2024

Lowther Hill, East Mount Lowther and Cold Moss from Wanlocheadtrimarc222/06/2023
From Overfingland up SUW over Laght Hill and Cold Moss to Lowther Hill. Along tarmac to Green Lowther then to Peden Head and down Riccart Law Rig and Shortcleuch to car parked in layby just west of bridge.SS09/04/2023
Cold Moss (donald top) via Laght Hill and Comb Head. Parked verge on A702 east from the hill.hummusg23/02/2023
Up from the cattle grid above Wanlockhead, stunning day above the clouds. Did the ridge including Cold Moss and back over Glen Ea's Hill to the car. Beautiful hard frosty day with a perfect inversion. Never met a sole!JimT13/12/2022
SMC route for the northern Lowthers, parked at a layby near OverfinglandGary Heath04/11/2022
Parked the car on the Northern end of the A702 and got the 3km road walk out of the way. Followed the Southern Upland Way to Lowther Hill (with a small diversion for Laght Hill), then East Mount Lowther with good views of the Lake District Fells. Back to Lowther, Green Lowther, Dun Law, a sharp drop down and up to Louise Wood Law. Bit of a tromp back to the road.tsharp16/09/2022
From Overfingland for a round of Laght Hill, Cold Moss, East Mount Lowther, Lowther Hill, Green Lowther and Faugh.rhalstead09/09/2022
Made a detour from top of Lowther Hill to bag this Donald Top as I was doing the Lowther Donalds from Wanlockhead. Ditched the rucsac at top of Lowther Hill as I was carrying alot of water as the temperture today was expeted to be in the high 20's. Reacent back up Lowther Hill wasn't too bad.Jossker12/08/2022
Parking in layby at NS912083. Hurdle at wall corner of woods gives access to a brutal ascent of Laght Hill, big dip then relentless uphill along SUW to Comb Head, then easier on to Cold Moss and Lowther Hill, out and back to East Mount Lowther, on to Wether Hill and finally, up the steepest grass I have ever encountered, to Steygail, descended via Westside Height to Dalveen and back up the A72 race track.Isbjorn08/05/2022

Parked in a layby on the A702 just over the border in Dumfrieshire, headed up the 500m bump to the east, then uo Cold Moss. I returned via the sheepfolds between the A702 and Cold Moss.chillyman801/03/2022
Full anti-clockwise circuit of Laght Hill, Cold Moss and Steygail. Good parking a few hundred metres W burial ground. Along the SUW from Laght Hill.Minto27/02/2022
Plenty of roadside parking 100m W of the burial ground at the Dalveen Pass. Back E along the road to where the wall rises up the hillside, through the small gate & then followed L side of wall through bracken initially & then grass to Laght Hill. Short detour to the summit & then followed SUW over Comb Head to Cold Moss. Clag had descended over the main Lowthers, so returned via the same route deciding against the boggy shortcut around Laght Hill.NotReallyABagger14/11/2021
Great parking in loop of old road at NS 9317 1004. Short walk along road, then SUW up to radar station: Laght Hill, Comb Head, Cold Moss, Lowther Hill (3rd visit). Descended towards car (mostly on vehicle tracks) via Crooked Bank, to bag the last hill in the area.Toby-and-Dion13/11/2021
As part of SUW, Stage 2. Horrendous conditions.Skerryvore05/10/2021
Route over Lowther Hills from E, parking just N of Overfingland. Took Southern Upland Way to Laight Hill, over Comb Head and Cold Moss. Continued to Lowther Hill, walking around the compound fence, then over to East Mount Lowther. Returned almost to access road then contoured S and via Wether Hill to narrow beallach and steep climb to Staygail. Descended via Westside Height to Carron Water and return mainly following fence line on hillside above road and then joining line of Roman road to Overfingland. Misty and drizzly for some time but start and end of route were brighterRobertP03/09/2021
From Overfingland SMC route. Laght Hill, Comb Head, Cold Moss, Lowther Hill, East Mount Lowther, Lowther Hill again, Green Trough, Green Lowther, Dungrain Law, Dun Law, White Law, Louise Wood Law down over Great Hill to Peden Burn and walk along road back to Overfingland. 15 miles-ish, 6 hrs.Longwojo18/06/2021

With Julia. Misty day - couldn't see the golfball until underneath it. Found the road walking section quite surreal. First time using new running packs.stewartbb13/06/2021
Good roadside parking for couple of cars at NS 9449 1206. Faugh -> Dun Law -> Dungrain Law -> Peden Head -> Green Lowther -> Green Trough -> Lowther Hill, dropping down to here, then Comb Head -> Laght Hill. Bike left at Overfingland to save 2 mile road walk back to car.jonglew02/04/2021

A round of Laght Hill, Cold Moss and Steygail from layby near the burial ground. Interesting steep sided hills. Impressive sub-Marilyn. Found a useful old track leading back up from Upper Dalveen that saved any road walking. With R and B.jenx03/09/2020

14 mile walk from parking place at Glenochar, walked along lane through Watermeetings forest then joined Southern Uplands Way crossing Potrail Water, then along ridge bagging Laght Hill, Cold Moss (& Comb Head), Lowther Hill, Green Trough, Green Lowther (& Peden Head), Dungrain Law, steep Dun Law and very steep Lousie Wood Law then down to Bastle and back to the car, saw about 6 people all day. Fairly easy terrain throughout with great views nearby and towards the Lakes, Highlands and the Isle of Man, mostly high cloud with the odd bit brushing the surrounding mountain tops.DanTrig14/08/2016
