Lousie Wood Law then Dun Law from Glenochar Bastle House car park | hummusg | 26/01/2024 |
Parked in a lay-by near the 309m point on the B7040. We walked along roads/bridge to South Shortcleugh then ATV track up to Leadburn Rig. Heather then stone track to Glen Ea's Hill and then more heather and trods to the gap between Dun Law and Dungrain Law. Up the latter along an ATV track and on to Peden Head, returning to the gap before the ascent of Dun Law. NE along reasonable trod to White Law and then drop/climb to Lousie Wood Law. Back along shooting butt trail and then stone track to South Shortcleugh, road and van brew. | summitter | 15/10/2023 |
From Glenochar out to bastle then Lousie Wood Law by Coupland Gair. Along to Little Windgate Hass then up Dun Law via White Law and down by Kneesend (appropriate) to col. Vague path then took me back to outbound and car. | SS | 16/08/2023 |
From Glenochar then ATV up Great Hill. A wet and windy day. | Crumblie2 | 15/07/2023 |
From Elvanfoot, solo. Unfinished business from last year. Then onwards to Dun Law. | langskill | 26/01/2023 |
Repeat ascent/ From Glenochar via Great Hill. A beautiful, if cold day. Variable snow crust made for tiring going. | vuirich | 20/01/2023 |
SMC route for the northern Lowthers, parked at a layby near Overfingland | Gary Heath | 04/11/2022 |
From good parking opposite track on B7040 for a round of Glen Ea's Hill, Dun Law and Lousie Wood Law. | rhalstead | 15/10/2022 |
with GN. From Wanlockhead to Lowther Hill and along ridge to Louise Law Wood as out and back. Some significant ascents and descents along the way. Good day. | trimarc2 | 21/09/2022 |
Parked the car on the Northern end of the A702 and got the 3km road walk out of the way. Followed the Southern Upland Way to Lowther Hill (with a small diversion for Laght Hill), then East Mount Lowther with good views of the Lake District Fells. Back to Lowther, Green Lowther, Dun Law, a sharp drop down and up to Louise Wood Law. Bit of a tromp back to the road. | tsharp | 16/09/2022 |
From Dun Law. Dropped rucsac at bealach as I intended to return to this point to use the track that heads north from there. Steep climb at first then onto broad shoulder to reach top. Flies everywhere so didn't hang around long. | Jossker | 12/08/2022 |
Grassy parking for 1 x small car at NS923171. Unwelcome start with a ‘private road keep out’ sign (broken) at the start of the track to South Shortcleugh Farm. Avoided the policies of the farm via a track to its E then up to Leadburn Rig and Glen Ea’s Hill, Dungrain Law, Peden Head, Dun Law, White Law, Lousie Wood Law and back to farm. Gold prospector in the Elvan Water had found three bits of gold. | Isbjorn | 07/05/2022 |
11 of 11: From Dun Law. With Karen. | ChrisR | 29/04/2022 |
Good roadside pull-in opposite track (NS 9159 1629). Took track to Glen Ea's Hill first then across to here on a reasonable direct route over rough heathery ground to mid-way up Little Windgate Burn. Followed the burn up to the hass then fenceline up to Black Law - all the burns were just step overs. On to Leadburn Hill and return for a pleasant 8.5k round. | jonglew | 04/01/2022 |
Started from the parking area for the Glenochar Bastle with J on a showery day & walked along the marked trail. All a bit overgrown with faded or lichen obscured information boards. Followed ATV tracks on to Great End & then swung N at a broken boundary to summit of Lousie Wood Law. Followed fence across to Dun Law then down over Kneesend to pick up path leading round base of Doddin & back to the Bastle. | NotReallyABagger | 03/10/2021 |
From Overfingland SMC route. Laght Hill, Comb Head, Cold Moss, Lowther Hill, East Mount Lowther, Lowther Hill again, Green Trough, Green Lowther, Dungrain Law, Dun Law, White Law, Louise Wood Law down over Great Hill to Peden Burn and walk along road back to Overfingland. 15 miles-ish, 6 hrs. | Longwojo | 18/06/2021 |

Started from Elvanfoot cemetery, over Louise Wood Law, Dun Law, Green Lowther, Lowther Hill, then East Mount Lowther, turned back over Lowther Hill, then dropping down to the A702, avoiding the Donald Top of Cold Moss. Returned along the A702 by foot, 10hrs all in. Didn't see a would until the radio meet on Green Lowther were an Openreach engineer was half way up it. | chillyman8 | 24/06/2020 |
B7040 SH338, Glen Ea's Hill, Dun Law, Lousie Wood Law, direct back to start. | PGCE | 25/02/2020 |

With Jenx and Bryher on a circuit over Leadburn Rig, Glen Ea's Hill, Dun Law and Louise Wood Law from road parking to the North at North Shortcleugh (via croft at South Shortcleugh). Nice chill day with views. | nordicstar | 24/10/2019 |
Car nr North Shortcleugh. Across river on farm bridge and then straight up to meet the fence and ATV track to the top. | Moorponder | 13/10/2019 |
Shortcleuch- Lousie Wood Law- Dun Law- Glen Ea's Hill- Leadburn Rig- Shortcleuch round with Pete. Bridge, then intermittent ATVs via Toddle Knowe across a grouse moor. We angled across above Hershaw Burn to avoid very heathery steep slopes. The going got much easier once we were on the ridge, alongside a fence. | pwheeler | 19/09/2019 |
Round of Lousie Wood Law (and Dun Law) from Glenochar. | RobB | 10/09/2019 |
Last of a round from Wanlockhead and was glad to see the trig! Return following ATV tracks to Lowthers and then old mine and shooting tracks to start. | MichaelF | 25/03/2019 |
A circuit of the Lowthers ridge from Overfingland on a windy, bright day. Laght Hill (deviating from the SUW to the summit), Comb Head, Cold Moss, Mount Lowther, Green Trough, Green Lowther, Peden Head, Dungrain Law, Dun Law and Louise Wood Law. Found buried treasure along the way. | Nick Down1 | 29/12/2018 |

From Dun Law then back to B7040. | N.Morters | 07/07/2018 |
Parked opposite track to ford (crossed downstream) then took track to near flat top of Glen Ea's Hill. Sheep trod to col then decent path angles up Dun Law before heading to Lousie Wood Law skirting Little Windgate Hass to the south. Dropped north following old wall to South Shortcleugh and back along the road. | SS | 30/06/2018 |
The whole ridge from S to N s/f Wanlockhead. Dry underfoot and easy walking apart from descent from Louise Wood through some thick heather back to road. 5 hrs. | AndrewFinnimore | 18/06/2018 |
Parking area opposite end of track at 916163 & up Glen Ea's Hill & Dun Law. From Dun Law, followed good path along S. side of fence to Little Windgate Hass; wire fence acts as a decent handrail on steep descent to col. From col, picked own way up to Black Law & then path to summit cairn & trig point. Descended WNW, crossed burn, over S. ridge of Leadburn Rig, & then down to ford & car. Solo from Glenochar, A702, on very cold (-9) day, snow cover from road increasing with drifts at height, making the going very tough with frequent falls up to knees. Views were good but lingering in NW wind wasn't on, however no precipitation. (First visit was with KHWC on 11/04/2015, during first round.) Turned SW onto fence towards Dun Law. | jacobus | 07/02/2018 |
Parked off B7040 where old railway track crosses road. The bridge at 938173 doesn't exist! Crossed bridge at 929173 and walked over the frozen bog of Toddle Moss and South Shortcleugh. Followed wall once on ridge. Snow blizzards! Descended to Leadburn. With Ian. | Dangerous Dave | 30/12/2017 |
Parked off the B7040 then crossed road and down shooting track to deep ford and wet feet. Continue up shooting track to Glen Ea's Hill, then Dun Law before a steep diversion to include Dungrain Law before returning to Dun Law. Continued along to Lousie Wood Law then returned to car via Leadburn Rig and the deep ford. | Dugswell2 | 24/08/2017 |
From the Glenochar Trail car park on A 702 at NS 95050 13702. Took boggy trail to Glenochar Bastle, then Coupland Gair ridge north-west to the summit. Walk continued to Dun Law. Solo. A misty moisty day, with some rain. | Man of Kernow1 | 07/09/2016 |
Circuit of Lowther hills. | Grinner | 04/09/2016 |
14 mile walk from parking place at Glenochar, walked along lane through Watermeetings forest then joined Southern Uplands Way crossing Potrail Water, then along ridge bagging Laght Hill, Cold Moss (& Comb Head), Lowther Hill, Green Trough, Green Lowther (& Peden Head), Dungrain Law, steep Dun Law and very steep Lousie Wood Law then down to Bastle and back to the car, saw about 6 people all day. Fairly easy terrain throughout with great views nearby and towards the Lakes, Highlands and the Isle of Man, mostly high cloud with the odd bit brushing the surrounding mountain tops. | DanTrig | 14/08/2016 |
Leadburn Rig - Geln Ea's Hill - Dun Law - Lousie Wood Law from pt 338. Low cloud and drizzle. | RobertP | 22/07/2016 |
Not so lousy, rather nice , with trig. Summit at nearby stone cairn. Part of 4 hill circuit. | Denise | 16/04/2016 |
Fine summit with medium cairn and trig point. Rock on W slope is a small Breccia like material. | RichardM | 16/04/2016 |
With five others, GM, DB, FD, M&DC, from Glenocher Farm (Bastle) direct to summit; first 20 minutes cloudy then 20 mins of blizzard of snow and hail, propelled by 40+ mph gale, thereafter sunny intervals and dry. SW onward around White Law; break for lunch. | trienbrae | 11/04/2015 |
From se as part of round of all all Lowther Donalds and Donald tops. | dickscroop | 19/08/2014 |
