Parked at the entrance to Glenim Cottage. Past the barky doggies and along Glenimshaw Glen until reaching a wide bridge across the burn. Up a steep stony track past millions of partridges until reaching a fence line that leads up to Yell Hill and on to Cairn Hill. Relatively rough ground over to Dalpeddar Hill and then Auchensow Hill. A steep bracken-strewn descent back to Glenimshaw, but a lovely round of these rarely visited hills.summitter16/08/2023

From the layby on A76 opposite start of road to Coshogie. On road and then track past Kirkbride and then east of Kirkbridehill Plantation. Easiest way is to get into the field to the east just after passing the remains of an old church.pwbellarby22/05/2023
Parked at entrance to Kirkbride Farm, initially heading up the grassy slope before joining the farm track before the farm. Walked through rather than round the plantation which doesn't have much undergrowth.Owen B09/04/2023
Parked on grass verge in corner, at hairpin bend. Route as described by gerrybowes.Dangerous Dave25/10/2022
Parked in wide entrance to Kirkbride, avoiding large vehicle turning tracks - Up track to Kirkbridehill Plantation, over gate on right & skirted E.side making use of animal tracks through areas of bracken - Up to summit cairn, picking up occasional bits of an ATV track; this is more obvious on final approach to summit.gerrybowes11/08/2022
With Janice from the track to the north. Great view, lovely weather.Play2End19/04/2022
From the road near the U bend via Kirkride and the east side of Kirkbridehill Plantation.Winterfloodian21/10/2021
Roadside verge parking at U-bend in minor road (NS 85764 05322). Used track to old kirk and across field to E of plantation. Very dense bracken made progress hard work once out of the pasture.m0jla16/09/2021
Parked just before the bridge at the hairpin (857053) (16:00), from where an initially overgrown path led through a gate and up to Kirkbride Farm. Followed the track past the church but a complicated electric fence and gate, probably protecting a water supply, barred the way into the wood. Went rightwards round the wood and through grass and bracken to the summit. Dry and clear. Finished 17:45.dbb08/07/2021
Roadside verge parking at U-bend in minor road (NS 85764 05322). Took a short cut across sheep pasture to track to Kirkbride Farm; skirted plantation to E and straight up the hill. On to Dalpeddar Hill in dreich weather.jonglew10/03/2021
From layby on A76 up road then track to old kirkyard then as others up right hand side of wood and then just trods to the cairn. Returned on broadly the same line. Pleasant spring day.SS21/02/2021
From the road up to Glenim then over Knockconey Dod over Cairn Hill and out to Auchensow Hill before dropping back to the glen again. Bright sunnt morning with a lot of snow around and minus 10 at the start.3 kinnears09/01/2021
Parked on minor road to Coshogle Farm at entrance to Kirkbride. Walked up track to Kirkbride then left up track to wood. Round wood to right then on far side north on rough grass to fence and on to summit. Good views. Back same route. 75 minsCoinneach28/08/2020
Parked at large entrance to Kirkbride well away from the turning tracks - 857052. Walked past the old cemetary and over the stile when reaching the forest enclosure. Skirted to the right and then upwards emerging at a gate onto the open hillside. Good visibility. 85 minute solo return.bolton09/05/2019
A wonderful stroll in the snow in the setting sun. From Kirkbride, good parking at entrance to track. On the track, then short cut the bend on frozen snow. Past the farm and the ruined church on nice snow on the track and into the plantation. The gate just needs a pull to open, and the wire fence beyond has a permanently open pedestrian gate. Path through the trees beyond, and bashing the snow off the branches got them up high enough not to be too much of a nuisance. Over a little stream to the gate, then the open hill. Bracken might be nasty in the summer but no hassle in snow. The ATV track met part way up is no use at all, best to just hack straight up. Lovely sunset views of the Lowther hills and Mennock pass (purple) and most of Dumfries and Galloway. Splendid.Gill31/01/2019
Early evening just as the sun setting... from main road layby up the minor road towards Coshogle, turn off to Kirkbride. Crossed large field to top gate then round right edge of forest up open hill to summit in fading light.N.Morters01/12/2017
Round of Knockconey Dod and Cairn Hill from Glenin CottageClive G06/05/2017
Mennock Pass track for 1km then directly up the NW ridge via Yell Hill.Chris Peart14/12/2016
2nd hill on epic walk from Sanquhar to Moffat after Dalpeddar hill, i took a bearing to ascend White hill and then went straight up arriving just before the summit cairn. Onwards descent to the A702. From a wet start to intermittent sunshine, the views North were fantastic. My first real challenge was to descend the steep slope and cross the Enterkin burn.Dazingdale02/05/2016
Those dogs are certainly entertaining. And loud. All ok until one long-jumped the cattle grid. Otherwise straight forward. Though misty.jenx02/11/2015
With Jenx, and as she says the dogs no problem at Kirkbride croft. Spoke to two of the ladies there, very pleasant. Better than weather, thick mist. Up past the ruined kirk to woods. Can pass straight through these along a ride of sorts with faint path to gate at top (GR852062) - track shown on 1:25k has disappeared, then bash on up the hill to summit cairn.nordicstar02/11/2015
From the south, starting just before big bend in road. Plenty of parking room at bottom of track to Kirkbride, where there are several vocal dogs. Large sheep field followed by bracken, easier higher up.Topographer5722/10/2015
From Glenim cottage NS837098 cycled up pleasant valley in full autumnal colours to gate at NS850082. then walked south over another gate and up the obvious line of short green grass to the ridge fence then along to the summit. Returned same route.GmacT20/10/2015
From the B797 at nice parking at NS 83772 09811.Alan Moore02/10/2015

parked at churchyard at kilbride.robertphillips18/06/2014
Parked in large turning area at track end 858052. Gate and follewed beck uphill to reach Kirkbride. No threst from the dogs there due to them being retained by cattle grid. Pass between farm and graveyard. Head north to summit, grass initially then rough ground. Operated ham radio for SOTA on summit.G4OBK (Phil)16/04/2014
Straightforward ascent from minor road, passing Kirkbride Farm.JohnW10/06/2012

Parked by tel box on A76. On tarred road and farm track to farm. Through 2 gates to sheep filled field and a gate at the top to rough cattle pasture. Over swampy bits and tussock for 1/2 mile to top at 15.00. Grouse family crept away silently.arranc25/10/2002
