2nd island of the day, choppy breezy (NW 12 kts) 1 mile paddle from Wembury; nice easy landing E side in sheltered inlet, easy ascent past interesting ruined building with domed/beehive roof. Outcrop at HP with a simple seat carved into it. Crux was getting kayak down steps from car park to beach, luckily plenty of helpful folk around. Any breeding birds long since fledged: none encountered; no seals. | RHW | 30/06/2018 |
Moored to west then went across in rubber dinghy. Easy scramble over slabs then roughish grassy ascent up ridge. Summit has steps cut into rock and a ceramic ? tile with triangle. Apparently popular with locals; we met one on top who claimed to have run across sandbar at low water springs in an hour on a previous occasion. Interesting circular shelter on east side, with rough path from there to summit. Conventional landing appears to be north east side, but chart says rock, not good holding for anchor? | Denise | 18/09/2016 |
Anchored in 7m of water on W side of island, landed SW corner by dinghy. Easy slabs and grass to SW ridge and pleasently up ridge to small rocky summit. Fine views. A seemingly popular objective for locals with at least 3 parties reaching the summit today. | RichardM | 18/09/2016 |
Kayak from Wembury, landed E side of island. Short rocky scramble then grassy slopes to summit rocks. | jonglew | 11/09/2016 |
