Round the south side 1 hr before LW springs. Met a young couple struggling on the initial spiky scramble - route not entirely obvious but after a bit of coaxing we all made it onto the grassy ridge and summit (they were more interested in the letterbox just below)AndyS06/07/2023
Arrival on sunny day couple of hours after low tide, just enough rock exposed to scramble round to south.N.Morters29/06/2023
It was low tide when boat arrived, and since Rat Island was next to the Quay, took advantage of this and scrambled up to gain summit. (With Stu). We then went and did Devil's Slidemazz14/09/2019
On midday spring tide straight off boat. Quite busy today, standard route passes S side to SE end then easily up. A slightly shorter line is a nice scramble but briefly exposed and a little loose. 2 summits about equal, 20m apart with a Lundy letterbox under small crag just E of E summitRHW01/06/2019
(not ticked) Access denied due to seal pup on beach. Grey seals breed in Autumn (Sept onwards) - bad timing on our part. https://www.landmarktrust.org.uk/globalassets/new-seal-code-of-conduct-2018.pdf No bird restrictions (2019) anyway https://www.landmarktrust.org.uk/lundyisland/discovering-lundy/activities/climbing/RHW29/09/2018
Scrambled up north side after wading round in knee dip water to a point I could gain route.Dusty25/01/2018
Swam round Rat Island on 7 Sep 2012 accommpanied by 2 sons and a lot of seals. Hauled (ourselves) out onto the rocks but didn't summit. ***Revisited 22 Apr 2017. Rising tide no dry access to easier south/east sides. Attempted it from W; tricky scramble, got to within a few metres of safer grassy area but bottled it as exposure in excess of my personal limit! Also Mrs G watching and decided not to scare her any more. I'll be back. ***Finally summited today. Low tide +1, traversed large bouldery rocks on W and N sides to landslip area, then steeply up, good initially then loose shale and rubbish before cresting out on easy grass. Trickier than anticipated.jonglew13/07/2017
