Another end of day short blast of welcome fresh air in passing, after spending Christmas Day in hospital with L -now 3rd day of positive post op recovery and now walking the corridors and stairs.. Humbled by the care and kindness shown by all the staff. Had spent time in the hospital chapel today and now the hills - both places to find calm and strength. I lift up my eyes to the hills (psalm 121)Chris Pearson25/12/2017

A beautiful spot well summed up by the NT who manage it 'A tapestry of pristine downland blends beautifully with scattered scrub and woodland. .. a sense of timelessness .. views across the Weald and to the Isle of Wight.Hear skylarks bursting with song above you and tread on grassland awash with pyramidal orchids and wild herbs'. The nearby NT car park is less timeless insisting payment is made by using the RingGo system. 'It’s quick and easy to use – either use the RingGo smartphone apps on the site or call ahead from home on 01372 885500 although no parking space is guaranteed (!). the Harting Down location number is 8508 and you will also be asked to key in your credit or debit card number'. (Whatever happened to putting money in a box?)Chris Pearson28/06/2015
