1st of 4 hills on a traverse from Hermitage to Wickham Heath and the last trip for a while due to the Coronavirus pandemic! Train to London St. Pancras, tube to Paddington, train to Newbury and bus to Hermitage. Explored the interesting ancient ramparts in the beech woodland (preferred top) then continued via 158m spot near road, visiting trig en-route then continuing to Snelsmore East Common...Dazingdale21/03/2020

10 degrees, sunny spells, stiff westerly breeze.Wycombe Wanderer24/12/2019
As per others, parked at the info board by the unusual Grimsbury Castle house and then walked around the iron age fort. No clear high point, but very pleasant woods. Some very polite local teenaged were doing spectacular BMX jumps over the ramparts. Oddly, later on at a craft beer shop in Newbury I saw and (and obviously bought) a beer called Grimsbury Castle made by the local Hermitage brewery - I'm a bit of a sucker for beers named after hills.wheresthepath28/07/2019
HP is probably on beech covered ancient earth bank but hard to say. Lovely beech woodland with blue bells. Trig visited too. Free parking at road junction. Public access.Denise 27/04/2019
Superb Beech woods. A wander around the earthworks, high point on W side of the road then through woods past grove of Redwoods to trig pillar.RichardM27/04/2019

An unusual quirky summit cottage in the woods next to this pleasant woodland. Just along from Downe House girls school where Kate Middleton went to school age 12 from her prep school but left (for co-ed Marlborough) after 2 terms due to allegedly being teased / bullied.Chris Pearson25/05/2016
Parked by the interpretation board and wandered into the woods. Fairly pleasant spot I suppose.Herbert Anchovy16/05/2016
