Gathersnow ridge from Polmood | hummusg | 10/02/2024 |
Circular from Culter Allers Farm: Chapelgill Fell, Culter Fell, Gathersnow Hill, Hillhead and Huddlestone. 5.5hrs. | jigglybones | 14/10/2023 |
Started off at Kingtedores Farm and took the track to Hopehead. Very steep climb up to Coomb Hill and then pretty easy going to Gathersnow Hill, Hillshaw Head and Coomb Dod.
Decided to come back via the upper route: Glenwhappen Dod, White Knowe Head, Glenmuck Height, Upper Oliver Dod and Nether Oliver Dod which was a bit of a tussocky trudge. | tsharp | 18/08/2023 |
Parked in layby near Culter Alters farm. Walked the road to the reservoir and followed the path to the gate at the meeting of the fences. Followed the fence up to the summit. | JAdair97 | 29/07/2023 |
From Kingledores. Coomb Hill, Gathersnow, Hillshaw and Coomb Dod. | Longwojo | 20/05/2023 |
From Culter Fell. Followed the path by the fence over Moss Law to Holm Nick. Then over the track and stream and straight up steep Nout Craig to the summit, the terrain not bad at all. Returned to Holm Nick by the same way, then followed the good track to the reservoir and back to the car near Culter Allers farm. Thundery showers were promised for the afternoon so got a move on and thankfully missed them. | Owen B | 30/04/2023 |
Repeat visit. My first Donald on a second round! Came over from Hillshaw Head with Alan & Kathy. Met two guys who took our photos. | Dangerous Dave | 29/10/2022 |
From Glenkirk via roads for new forestry and ATV tracks to the top of Coomb Hill. Then along fence to summit of Gathersnow Hill. Weather closing in so no real incentive to go on to Hillshaw Head and its turbines. Back down to Holm Nick and a short way up Moss Law before cutting across to join another bulldozed road back down to cottage at Holms Waterhead. | the pigguy | 03/10/2022 |
Round from Glenkirk over Coomb Hilll, Gathersnow, Coulter, Cardon, Chapelgill with Lesley. Cold NW wind on top, superb views Easy direct descent towards Coulter. | Nick Canute | 26/09/2022 |
Parked on A701 at entrance to Kingledores Farm, I cycled up the valley, until the windfarm track on the right. I walked up this track to the first turbine, where I cut off west and contoured across the south slope of Broomy Law, they picked up a faint path along the fenceline to Coomb Hill, then onto Gathersnow Hill and Hillshaw Head. Stopped for lunch on wind turbine base, then followed the windfarm track to Coomb Dod. From here I dropped down to the sheepfold in the valley and walked back east along the valley back to the bike, then cycled back to the car. Dry all day, with clouds blowing through, 05:25hrs all in. | chillyman8 | 28/08/2022 |

On to Gathersnow Hill taking a direct route up from Holm Nick on sheep trods and short grass and bilberry higher up. Met Alda on the way down. Down via Coomb Hill to Holms Waterhead on a vague path, then heather and long grass to a rough ATV track through deep heather, improving lower down. A circuit from Kingledores on a mild, misty December day.
