Kayaked with easy departure from pebble beach at Abermawr, departing 05:30, HW -4, hoping to catch the tide. there appeared to be a few backeddies but basically it was an easy paddle. We found the easiest site to land was on the NW side sheltered by an outlying island of pillow lava. c 1-2m swell. After hauling kayaks onto angled slabs, it was an easy ascent to HP near cairn. Returned via Ynys Ddu. The waves were breaking on sand on return to Abermawr and I capsized.Denise 28/07/2019
With Richard and Denise. Brush and Ddu from S, Aber Mawr, 14km round trip paddle. 0530 start to catch northward tide. Landed NW side in niche in semi shelter of skerry with notch for parking 3 kayaks, tricky in 3ft swell, beautiful scramble up pillow lava, either ramp is ok. Outcrop HP 2m NE of cairn. Gorgeous sunny day.RHW28/07/2019
With Denise and Rob. After bivvying on Aber Mawr beach a delightful early morning paddle out to Pen Brush (75 mins, 3.5miles) More swell than we'd have liked for the landing but all gain the superb pillow lava of the NW face more or less dry. Excellent scramble to summit where we are warmed by the morning sun.RichardM28/07/2019
20 km return kayak from Abercastle. Went round the island and landed in north end of chasm and up a dark, smelly ramp before reaching bare soil and not very reassuring pillow lavas.AndyS04/07/2019
Descended cliffs on an old disused path to Porth Maenmelyn beach. Fortune shone and cadged a lift round to Pen Brush. Fairly straight forward scramble up SE face on stable rock. Descent a lttle trickier but not difficult. 1.5km swim to Ynys Ddu.jonglew15/08/2016
