From Muncaster Castle car park, up the Fell Road track and taking a little path off to the left at the edge of the woods. Would not have known that the trig point was not the highest point, thank God for amateur surveyors. The extra walking was worth it for the splendid views and general sunny weatherRockdoctor06/05/2023

Returned for new top. From Muncaster car park. Back along the main road. At the bend took the good track towards the old top. Passed it up on the left and onto the new top. No paths to the top. Followed a sheep track from the east of the top. Short and unpleasant.destaylor06/04/2022
15/16. 30 years since I last climbed up here with a big gang of outdoor friends to the trig top, now returned 6 years after the 60 cm higher top was discovered 300m away in 2016. Still need to revisit the moved Cornish Hensbarrow Beacon to Downs to re-complete my English Marilyns. No rush. Now just peaky Silver Knott -a bonus tump lying aside the onward march down into Eskdale .Chris Pearson26/03/2022

From Muncaster Castle CP. Repeat ascent of Hooker Crag (previous in 1975) en route to 'new' Marilyn summit. Very blustery, but dry.vuirich01/02/2022

Up from Muncaster Castle car park for my penultimate English Marilyn accompanied by some pedigree hill walkers. Only a feint path up to the summit it seemed. Sheltered in the lee of a rocks before heading back down.Father Ted26/10/2021

From Muncaster Castle car park. Visited the trig and the 'new' summit - to my eye each looked higher when viewed from the other, so that's not much use. I trust the technology!paulhilder19/08/2021
From Forge Bridge via Silver Knott and the trig point to make sure I did this top, 18 years after doing the Trig. As others have commented it looks smaller from the Trig and the Trig looks higher from it. On a clear very warm day I saw no one else on the fells.PeterD22/07/2021

Avoid the pathway from hell that starts at the Bower House Inn! The bridlepath is much nicer! And you don't scramble through a stream!!!PhilipChaston10/06/2021
