Had some spare time before a flight from London City so I walked up from Beckton DLR station. Gate by the roundabout was open leading to the zig-zag path. Followed path avoiding litter and entered through the hole in the gate which was nicely padlocked. Up to the top to enjoy the views before heading down and a walk to Albert dock and the airport.Buck06/12/2023

11 of 17. From East Ham station on the District line.WAYNE ROWLETT23/07/2023
Access appears to have been tightened since previous logs, circled site, no gaps in fences, all gates padlocked, no obvious way in, not possible to climb fence on a busy Sunday. Did highest ground on perimeter and then as this is artificial went and did 5591 Wanstead Flats (previous Newham top) as well because arguable Beckton Alps shouldn't be the Borough top if not natural ground and entirely unaccessible (on health/contamination grounds)arrans15/01/2023

On own. From Beckton DLR. Access can be gained through gap in main double gate at corner of Woolwich Manor Way (A117) and Newham Way (A13) roundabout. Then follow surfaced zig-zag path to summit gate which is also locked but again gaps in railings allow access to summit. Hot summer day with extensive views in all directions. Well worth being the urban explorer for this one!Beeliner14/06/2021
Two gaps in the fences to squeeze through, felt very urban-explorer. Odd that it’s all locked up these daysRockdoctor11/07/2020
Not quite able to make the summit as it's all locked down thanks to Covid-19!pclyndes03/05/2020
From Stratford, along the Greenway to the base of the hill, then through the open gate on the west side, up the zigzag path to the upper fence, through the gate with the missing pieces, and up the rough path to the summitMariana Trench13/09/2019
Highways sign: 'Beckton Roundabout traffic lights failure, expect delays.' Monster traffic jam, 2hrs for 4 miles. Man shot dead in area, police cars striving to wend their way through. Local low-life on approach to hill. Just another Sunday afternoon in E.London?Aye Jimmy08/09/2019

Route as described below - gap in the fence easy to climb through. Went post-touristing at Victoria Dock parkrun first then up with GFE and r1. Great view from the top.Fionalevey17/11/2018

Very nice view from topJanko27/08/2018
Climbed up here to deal with England semi final disappointment. Gate open near A13 roundabout. Fence near summit has a gap adjacent to locked gate. Fine views of Canary Wharf at dusk.mrs_ts711/07/2018

Last week Ladhar Bheinn - this week Beckton Alps. From the north end of Whitings Way at the bend with Eastbury Rd there is a tarmac path which gradually rises outside the intimidating fence. Pursue this to its high point where the fence spars have disappeared giving easy access to the top. Great views over east London and panorama of Docklands.Campbell Singer01/07/2018
There are some bent railings on Whitings Way. No real path so a bit of a thrash to the topDC11main17/06/2018
I walked up from Beckton DLR station following the usual route along the zig-zag path. Unfortunately the hole in the fence next to the gate has very recently been fixed. I walked round the perimeter which is now complete. I was not prepared to tackle a six foot spiked fence. Ah well!! Near enough as I'm no pedant.Sixtyplus25/05/2018
From Beckton DLR station via zig zag path and gap in fence. Great views over London!Tony J28/04/2018
Parked at Sainsbury's Beckton to the north ( Retail park off A 13) and then walked on rubbish strewn footpaths to the top. Access through tall metal fence from unlocked gate to west from A117, then followed zig zag partly overgrown tarmac path to second fence/ gate, through missing bars and then along grassy ridge to small rubbish strewn plateau. Hazy, smoggy views over London but pleased to be at this infamous top, with great potential.Denise 10/04/2018
Open gate in railings on W side (close to major road junction) accesses crumbling zigzag path up through litter strewn woodland to upper railing enclosure. Turning right (S) reaches gap in railings and easy walk to open grass/mud/litter summit. This evening murky brown grey views out over a sea of buildings. We take in the scene of filth and endless noise thinking this little hill with great views out over London and its trees bursting into leaf has to be an opportunity wasted.RichardM10/04/2018
This must be the most surprising - and one of the most distinct - summits in London. Walked from Beckton DLR via the zig-zag path and the improvised gate in the railings. Just below the summit, a row of metal plates have been co-opted as message boards. The save the NHS slogan is clear on the summit side, and partially over-written on the outward facing boards.Nick Down115/02/2018

Through open gate to SSW, up zig zag path, through very large gap in fence. Good view as sun setting. Big traffic jam on A13.PeterD18/12/2017

Staying in Bloomsbury for Pension Trustee meeting tomorrow. Long trip on tube then DLR to Beckton. Hlf mile easy walk from station. Up zigzag path from Alpine Way (gate in lower fence open) then through large hole in upper fence to reach top. Popular spot judging by the amount of litter on top, which is not surprising given the fantastic 360 degree views. Back by DLR to the excellent Docklands Museum.Hillsidenick11/10/2017

Beaten to this by one of my sons, who did this many years ago, when it was a ski slope. Can almost see his house in Charlton from here & where he works, in Canary Wharf. Nearly as good a viewpoint of London as from the Shard.ngthack13/08/2017
Entered by gate SW corner, surfaced track leads to locked gate with wide gap adjacent, as others logs. Back to gap and continued clockwise to exit by another gate E side. Supposed to be flying to Canadian Rockies today, good old Air Transat delayed the flight by a day, this very much a second choice destination!RHW07/08/2017
Seven and a half years after I thought I'd completed the borough tops, I get to do so. Surprisingly good views and several sunbathers on the top.Richard08/07/2017
DLR to Becton. Tarmac path used as others had. Terminus of a DLR line so on return journey was able to sit at front and enact the schoolboy dream of being the driver.trimarc229/06/2017

As per Gordon, new double yellow lines on some of Alpine Way but parking still possible there. Outer fence has an unsecured gate and inner fence has a wide gap, so no access issues at present. With my nephew Andrew on a warm and bright day. Lovely views to the west: Shard, Gherkin, Canary Wharf, elevated section of A13!jonglew24/06/2017

Another 440 mile re-completion task. My heart sank to find the hill surrounded by a 7 foot high steel bar fence with signs - KEEP OUT Danger Hazardous Site. However I parked on Alpine Way at TQ43242 81882 to avoid the yellow lines and entered the gate at 43084 81912 to find the asphalt zizzag track still there and must have been there a good fifteen years. Encouraged to find a steep muddy track cutting out the zigzags but clearly used recently I got up to the last bend to find a large gap in the top fence, leading up to the high point. An interesting point with good views of Central and East London.GordonAdshead30/05/2017
