A cracking day up Beinn a’ Bheithir today with David Hillis, a majestic mountain above Ballalchulish with two Munros and one Munro Top.
Starting from the Co-op in Ballachulish, we made our way up the brutally steep shoulder of Sgorr Bhan (947m) a Munro Top, then west to Sgorr Dhearg (1024m) the day’s first Munro. There was a big drop then ascent to Sgorr Dhonuill (1001m) the second Munro, with the return via the Geann a’ Chaolais forest, which had been recently felled, 09:25hrs all in.
It was dry all day and by the time we reached the Top it was sunny with a strong breeze. Stunning views from Sgorr Dhonuilll across Loch Linnhe to Lismore and Mull. Though a bit hazy, Ben More on Mull and the Cullin ridge on Skye were visible. | chillyman8 | 12/07/2020 |

A surprisingly good path, not clearly mapped, from the Gleann a Chaolais car park. Just followed the signs for Sgorr Dhearg up through the forest to the 757m col. | Pete R | 03/06/2017 |
Both Sgorr Dhearg and Sgurr Dhonuill from the Forestry Commission car park at South Ballachulish. Very wintry conditions with snow covering both summits. | knarf | 25/04/2017 |
Came up the ENE ridge of Sgorr Ban in snow - not realising it was GII - rope deployed - then continued the round in good snow/ice but fierce wind - descent gully after Sgorr Dhonuill hard to locate and full of soft snow - blasted by ice crystals - but a good day - with MR some of the way - met JB along the way | wychwood | 12/02/2017 |

ballachulish to south ballachulish, sgorr bhan, sgorr dhearg, sgorr dhonuill, sgorr dhonuill west top, sgurr dhonuill far west top, craeg ghorm south top, creag ghorm, down fire break onto tracks collect bike and cycle back to the car. | robertphillips | 04/12/2016 |
Used the Walking Highlands route for the start of this hike. Tough going on the initial climb to the Sgorr Bhan/Beinn Bhan ridge deep heather/scrub to negotiate, from there on it was plain sailing. Looked like a bigger descent from Shorr Bhan to the col but closer up it was insignificant, the ridge to Sgorr Dhearg that had looked terrifying was now looking like a nice easy walk & it was. Privilege to stand on the top with amazing clear views all around, even The Ben was clear. Descent to the col at 757m had me picking up a geocache, then the climb to Sgorr Dhonuill & the aprehension of the exposure at the top. A brilliant mountain day & munros #134 135 | LizzieG | 07/11/2016 |
