Parked in the Font y Gary Holiday Park at 05068 66028 and along the Coastal Path. I went almost past the hill then over a gate with warning signs and up the grassy side of the hill. No trees to deal with. On my way to the next hill I drove past the north side and it looks difficult from there. | clivevilla | 29/11/2023 |
A dusk attack from the lay-by. The approach more interesting than the ascent. Considered darkening my face with ash for the benefit of the CCTV, but couldn't find any, anyway. | Martin R | 15/11/2023 |
9 mile out and back coast path run from Porthkerry Park, up from NW corner of lake, interesting hill, was def at high point but Summit Bag didn’t agree so need to go back, noticed a couple of golf balls on top so guess there’s a local making the most of the flat plateau, nice loop of reserve and explore of the lime kilns before heading back | milejunkie | 16/03/2023 |
Like most. From coast path. | Dusty | 28/09/2022 |
From Coastal path, free public parking at Fontygary Holiday Park to the east. The side of the compressed power station waste ash bing are grass covered and tiered with some immature trees at its base. not too steep. Unfriendly sign but noone seen. HP indistinct on levelish grassy top. | Denise | 06/12/2021 |
From the coast, up SE side of the grassed over ash tip, a hint of sulphur in the air. Leveled summit plateau with vague high point. Lots of birds around. | RichardM | 06/12/2021 |
Unable to climb ,fenced off by power station. | Pip56 | 20/09/2020 |
As per JonGlew. Vale of Glamorgan cleared for 2nd time. | Ramblingpaul | 25/07/2020 |
From coastal car park just west of power station, east along the sea wall then up the ash tip to the flattish top. Nice views from up on top. | Father Ted | 15/03/2020 |
From lay-by SE of East Aberthaw. Down track then muddy FP to coastal wall. All quiet before arrival on Storm Ciara. Gate then followed tracks up old tip. Flat top so exact HP difficult to establish. | PeterD | 08/02/2020 |
As jonglew. A really interesting walk along the elevated shore path. Fascinating ruin. | Campbell Singer | 25/01/2020 |
From layby (ST 0380 6630). Good track to ST 0355 6589, then over gate and up onto the spoil heap for a direct line to the summit area. Top of the heap is very flat, not really feasible to pick out a high point by eye: ST 03100 66300 perhaps or ST 03100 66400. | jonglew | 20/12/2019 |
From NE, P opposite PH which has bonus BM. RoW then awkwardly up thru brambles, but easy via SE corner as we discovered on descent. Wide level summit, we thought the summit was near SW corner, ST03186 66098 (level grass) or possibly further NE, at ST03248 66361 looked about equal, by hand level, although sighting into the wind, low accuracy and really too marginal for hand levelling. With Tony and Adrian, then to Dinas Powis the other recently added Phillips-tump | RHW | 14/12/2019 |
