10/10. Final top on a Dun to Dun (fort to fort) Uabairtich to Ormidale, linking 10 hills on a 4hr 20 min solo afternoon circuit from Kerrara jetty. Had been an enjoyable tough challenge to beat darkness (now just 15 mins away at 5pm) as much rough moorland, dead bracken, forests, fire breaks, and a reservoir to loop around. Here precipitous conglomerate cliffs south and west. Picked a way steeply down the fence line east to track passing Home Farm and the fancy Gallanach Castle - a large old/ cold looking, crenelated house on sea shore- light on in just one room - one wing is a holiday rental. Nice walk back on driveway munching a sandwich and listening to the geese settling as darkness encroached. All well until I stumbled in an unseen pothole, fell face first, but somehow pulled off a 'parachute roll'. Luckily I was just dusty and scuffed (Category 1 damage). Sandwich was sadly Category 5. | Chris Pearson | 12/11/2023 |

Path up from cafe though not well used. Cattle at summit. Dropped northwards on often fright track heading to Barr Dubh. | Adrian | 12/09/2022 |
Excellent viewpoint. Via nice easy tracks up through campsite from just short of locked gates. | IainT | 23/07/2022 |
3rd tump of 4 today after Dum na Maraig amd Cruach Luaragain Mhor. I didn't check logs so i also had to turn round at the locked gates. After asking around i opted for parking at the mast near Gallanachbeg. I took the grassy track that winds around the farmstead and then climbs on the flanks of Cnoc na culaige. Had to squeeze under a damaged deer fence but track continues and leads you directly to Dun Ormidale. I climbed upto the top steeply but you can use the track to take you further up. Great Views! I could see the coffee shop on Kerrera on the day that Charles Everett and I completed those tumps. Back the same way and over to Ardbeg for Tom Aird... | Dazingdale | 29/05/2021 |
Followed Ian’s route but didn’t walk from Oban. Good view point even on a dreich day . | chalky1953 | 29/06/2020 |
Delighted to find second newly-added Tump within suggested five-mile limit from home to climb while coronavirus restrictions still in operation. Walked from Oban with intention of ascending from Gallanach Home Farm, but road barred at Gallanach Lodge (about 8267 2702) by substantial locked gates with no pedestrian access. Retreated a few yards and headed north-eastwards uphill on footpath through trees, then across field fitted with power points for parked caravans and up to gate about 8303 2727 marked “Walkers are welcome”. Farm road to sheep fank and gate about 8307 2687, then lighter track southwards below cliffs, becoming footpath on approach to ridge. Sheep trods through bracken, heather, and grass up to fort. Sunny intervals, cold northerly wind. Extensive view, including Ben Cruachan, Glensanda quarry, and Ben More (Mull). Islay and Colonsay just visible on horizon. Back down to caravan park, then road to Oban. | mainnirnamfiadh | 03/06/2020 |
