THE SNOWDONIA 7 CHALLENGE, in teams of 4, ours was Darryl Bradshaw, Paul Beard, Dave Osbourne and me. Slogged up onto Glyder Fach, fell running teams already passing us, had been set off at 5 min intervals, there were 50 teams of 4. Started to run flat sections along the top. Y Garn broke Daryl and we all had to slow down. Pushed for time as coming off Elidir Fawr, we had to be at Llanberis checkpoint within a specified time or we would be pulled out. We were 2 mins over but allowed to continue. All wasted now. Up Llanberis path toward Snowdon, managed it by popping nurofens. On to Crib y Ddysgl. Now my right knee was causing serious problems. Managed to get over Snowdon and we all hobbled down to Rhyd-ddu. We were last down but had completed the course as was our objective. 5 teams had pulled out. Hardest mountain trip I had done and I could hardly walk for a week after. Great experience and we were the first Northants team to complete the course ever. Others had failed.	Mark T	21/08/1989
Took Paul up to show what I thought was the second part of the Snowdon 7 challenge. After usual breakfast at Petes Eats in Llanberis, bought some rock hardware. Walked up into Cwm Glas and up onto Crib y Ddysgl and onto Snowdon. Came down PYG track. Noticed that the track had been widened and was now like a road. Usual drinks at Vaynol Arms. Another reccy for the Snowdonia 7 challenge. I assumed the route would be up Cwm Glas Mawr onto Crib y ddysgl so camped at Nant Peris as usual. On my own. Set off up Cwm Glas Mawr and scrambled up the steep grassy slope to the right of Llyn Glas. Very steep. Up the north ridge onto Crib y ddysgl and on to Snowdon. 2 3/4 hr. Returned via c y d and along knife edge to Crib Goch and down North ridge. Knees held up fine.	Mark T	11/06/1989

Night Hike with Dr Llloyd Jenkins and group of venture scouts met in Tyn y coed bar earlier. Invited during session in bar, did not believe they were going up Snowdon that night, gave lift to tent at back of Jo Browns shop in Capel Curig, then onto Pen y Pass car park. There were hundreds of people there all kitted up. Given a group to join and all set off in different directions up Snowdon. After midnight. Remember going up PYG track and getting lost on the zig zags, it was only a small track then. Ended up ascending a grassy slope in my DM boots, very slippy. Scarey as just a void behind us. Once at the top everyone jumped into sleeping bags and me and my friend just walked round and round the cafe to keep warm. Did not see the sunrise as planned, the mist just got brighter. We all descended down to the lake and we were given some breakfast kindly by the other members of the groups. It was from this walk the Lloyd invited us onto the roof of Wales hike at New Year.
