In 2019 I suggested this as a potential Tump due to noticing that the old Formantine railway cuts through the col. DM did the detailed ground work surveying of the col and summit. I had hoped to help him one evening after work in 2019 but autumnal evening daylight was too short and then in spring 2020 Covid scuppered pretty much everything. A year later came to climb the hill and inspect the col cutting for myself. Easy track to open summit led alongside field of spooked cattle that, as they sometimes do, stampeded alarmingly back and forth towards me at my presence. Thankfully they somehow knew to stop before the puny wire fence between us which would have snapped like cotton at their massive momentum. Very harrowing as 2 walkers have been killed by trampling by cattle this very week near Richmond and Hadrian's Wall -one a teacher roughly my age out with his dog. The railway built in 1861 links Aberdeen with Peterhead and Fraserburgh -preferring this inland route rather than coasta | Chris Pearson | 25/09/2020 |

From unused golf driving range at NJ 899/212 track leads through fields then on path alongside fence to top. Cattle in adjoining fields so local farmer preferred we walk this route. | dave g | 06/07/2020 |

Same route as vegibagger. Summit is the slightly higher hillock about 50m north of trigpoint. | govanah | 02/06/2020 |
Visit to trig... Clearly the place is beautiful... On the eye of the beholder.. Deep indented lettering in original cap. Middle of grassy field summit. Permission given to park along track from North. Walk further south till access to open hillside. Still one barbie to vault. | vegibagger | 12/06/2018 |
