Near perfect wintry conditions, first hill of five for the day. Was impressed with the views of the Yr Wyddfa massive and the Nantle ridge, as well as the Moelwyns of course.simocity01/12/2023
With my LOST group. Parked in Crimea Pass and tried to follow a Trail Magazine walk, but on the descent it seemed to fall into a chasm, so we had to navigate across the pathless bogland. Most of the walk was pathless. Windy but easy ascent.gbeniston25/09/2023

Iwerddon and Allt-Fawr from Crimea Pass with Rufus. Parked just downhill from the summit of the pass towards Blaenau Ffestiniog in the lay-by on the right. Followed the track WSW to the air shaft then more or less made a beeline west to the summit of Iwerddon staying underneath the crags. Followed the ridge SW to pick up sheep tracks that led S to the summit of Allt-Fawr. Retraced steps N for a short time then dropped down steeply E to the S shore of Llyn Iwerddon. Followed sheep tracks vaguely above the L bank of the stream back to the air shaft. Pretty murky morning but had a slight break looking N.jacobrichmond02/02/2023
Parked up at the top of the Crimea path, a short walk to the start of the path and went left once over the stile. The path is very straight forward with great views of Blaenau Ffestiniog and the Manod Mawr, Moel Siabod, Snowden, Glyders.Buckleymon23/09/2022
Gmac selected a lovely hill and a lovely day. Parked in the lay-by on the Crimea Pass. Walked down to the gate and took the path to the left (west). Follow the path up and climb up linking close yo the fence. Follow fence until slight drop in height and over second stile (Loch below). Keep with the path which eventually meanders up to the top. Excellent views including Snowdon.elizyanne13/07/2022

Unseasonable fine weather finally over - low cloud coming & going - fog in valleys - some drizzle. Approached from P at Crimea Pass. Grassy path. Some local weather windows. A few blades of rock at summit area (one of which marks the summit). No cairn & no summit views(hill fog). Quite a pleasant atmospheric hill walk.ger28/02/2019

Another attempt from Crimea pass, this time successful. Intermittent light rain. Raced to the summit against descending clouds, result dead heat, although the clouds subsequently lifted intermittently.Topographer5713/09/2018
Parked at the Crimea Pass and headed up Allt Fawr and Moel Druman. I walked past Ysgafell Wen, despite Mark challenging me. We did the North Top and the Far North Top and then returned to it. Quite a long slog down, following the stream downhill. The river crossing at SH 6834 4952 was not easy and also there was a new barbed wire fence with no style which was a bit of a problem. The last mile and a bit on the track was easy.tsharp13/09/2018

11.2 mile walk from end of Blaenau Dolwyddelan road on sunny day with high cloud, walked up lane through Coed Mawr farm climbing on good track then followed pathless route up onto Yr Arddu followed small trail to summit, pathless route towards Llyn Edno and trail to Moel Meirch summit, headed south back to Llyn Edno and onto Ysgafell Wen North Top and Ysgafell Wen (lovely and grassy), onto Moel Druman and followed easy grassy trails to Allt-Fawr, by this time the cloud started pouring onto the ridge behind us, left Allt-Fawr in a hurry down to Iwerddon on trail and then pathless across to Moel Dyrnogydd, followed lane over Blaenau Tunnel (footpath on map doesn't exist)back to car. Only saw two fisherman at Llyn Dynogydd all day. Very underrated area of Snowdonia. After walk headed home via Mynydd Nodol.DanTrig07/06/2017

A good, short walk from the climber's car park above Tanygrisiau in strong winds and torrential rain. Somehow the slate quarries and the ruins are at their most atmospheric under such conditions. Up through Cwmorthin quarry and steep grass to the col, then up the ridge. We found the top (very nice), and were surprised to find that it really does not have a cairn. Interesting navigation to Rosyth quarry via the lakes and then down the track. The cafe in Blaenau is very sympathetic to soggy hikers dripping onto the floor.Gill17/03/2017

Good visibility was essential and I had been prepared to head to these hills almost every day for a fortnight. Finally the wet December weather relented and the cloud rose to a level above these summits, though the higher mountains of Snowdonia remained hidden. Starting from the Crimea Pass the path climbed between charming lakes, with one breathtaking moment as I looked back from high above the bell-shaped Llyn Ffridd-y-bwlch. The first summit was quickly gainedpeter4lc16/12/2006
